Hi Dave, it is looking good on the radar for the sticky-outy bit of East Anglia, AKA not-very-snowy-so-far-Norfolk! Wonder how quick it will pass through as I believe the winds are to pick up? Fingers crossed it being on a NE wind and it makes it over to you too.

You certainly deserve it mate.

However if the snow does arrive in my area it could cause me a few problems. I have a hospital appointment tomorrow morning to see a Hip specialist at 10am. Much rather be sat here radar watching!

It's in Oxfordshire.

I used to drive past RAF Benson a couple of years ago and it did seem to be much colder. Car display although not to be relied upon used to drop around there. My great Uncle who is in his early eighties used to work there always laughed at me mentioning cold weather as a kid, he always hinted that I knew nothing about cold weather

BTW Didn't he early Top Gears used to be filmed there? There always seemed to be the odd snowy episode

Record low England January 19811982 -26.1c

Record low Scotland -27.2c 1895, 1982 and 1995

Record low N.Ireland -17.5c 1979

Wales -23.2c January 1940

Cornwall -16.0c 1979

Thanks for that- just one slight error (possibly typo?) So we definitely have to look back to Winter 1981/82 as this produced the record lows for December and January for England.

I believe the record low for C.London is -9.1c in January 1987. But with non stanmdard readings on -14c in the 1800s (when London was obviously smaller)

Guernsey in the Channel Islands record low was -7.4c in 1947 and 1991

Shetland Isles -11.4c 2001

So we have quite an array of temperatures in an array of years.

Woops we're straying well of topic.

Ask the consultant to get NW radar up on his pc — take your mind off things while he's torturing you

Yeah TWS I couldn't remember between 1981 and 1982. Originally thought 1981 then changed it. The british weather years has the readings setup but I cant find the years listing page.

Thanks to all the forecasters with their excellent posts. We saw just over 24 hours of snowfall and have seen near on a foot.

Just back from the darts at Lakeside and after a few drinks feel like joining in the rant!

Glad to see people on here aren't buying into the Global Warming propaganda. Co2 is breathed out buy us every other second and it is a food for plants. My grandfather used to buy it to feed to his plants and get bumper crops. It occurs in such minor levels in our atmosphere a large volcano can increase it noticeably.

Don't get me wrong, we have a massive consumption problem to deal with as well as polluting our air and water. But co2 is a means to drain money from the masses

Want to cut the levels, encourage more allotments and educate people to grow their own food, balancing the equation which is natures way, cutting down on transportation, exploitation of workers in foreign lands, packaging not to mention the good health benefits of the exercise and the connection we feel when working in harmony with the planet.

We get charged for over filling our bins with the crap corporations package there stuff in, erm, maybe make laws to stop the problem at source making it illegal to package anything in something other than recyclable material. And not 2 or 3 layers of it!

I have a strong knowing that there is massively corrupted forces in our system working against the people.

The beauty of this weather is it makes people step back form the rat race and rather than ignoring everyone and avoiding eye contact we start to help each other and step back from the rat race. Long may it continue, bring back community living!

Sorry. Rant over..

Ooooo, tough call. Well I hope you get a pasting of snow to wake up to, it all melts just before your appointment, then when you are safely home, it snows like the proverbial and replaces what has melted. I can't promise anything but I'll have a word with mother nature for you tonight....

Lol you might be right about the weather gods sharing it out.

Would not be out of the realms of possibility for N Norfolk and Peterborough, N Cambs to get the best of it tomorrow, if that happens everyone would have had a share of the spoils.......... :)

The climate has always changed and always will. We may have been in a gentle warming trend, but it is part of a natural cycle.

It may well kill off a lot of plants that have become accustomed to the milder UK winters of the last load of years too. blush.gif

I very likely will miss the snow tomorrow as I'm heading to Guildford...I suppose the 6-7 inches on the ground is a little compensation for that mind you... :)

Bit off topic again but in norfolk this summer we were infested by millions of ladybirds, i wonder if they knew what was coming and multiplied so that they would survive the winter?

Sorry.....bit random!
