The showers off the Suffolk coast look like they are about to form into a small band, just intime to hit Ipswich/Suffolk/Essex

Do you think this band could reach East Herts.?

Actually and to correct the post above, nearly all low pressure has a relative warm sector and a relative cold sector, its what produces the fronts, the convection, the precipitation etc etc. In fact, thermodynapics and temperature gradients is about on of the major components.

I said watch the warm sector jokingly...though chose the wrong smiley (apologies) The relative warm sector in the low is still cold.

Any brave person want to give us a forecast on this possible Thames Streamer? Certainly there is some action in the North Sea by the looks of things...

looks like rain here on the coastal regions over the weekend - like to see where this milder air is coming from, I've heard people say the milder air is embedded - embedded from where? I cannot remember in previous history of easterlies producing rain on the coast (certainly not on the essex/suffolk coast) and snow inland! anybody have any thoughts?

Latest N24 forecast from Phil Avery, didn't show much for tonight. Infact it looked pretty quiet in terms of snowfall.

If you look at the 17.15 radar clip? does it seem that out in the north sea there is a line of showers heading towards the estuary? or wishful thinking.

http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur

yes, i see that, coming across quite a distance of the north see.

will be interesting to see whether it progress during the evening to make landfall at east anglia or whether it slots conveniently into the estuary and dumps on us for several hours.

Any reports of snow in the NE tip of Kent yet?

Herne Bay across to Deal?

This is getting nailbiting now. It could miss us completely if the low pulls any further SE

the milder air is embedded within the easterly flow. It has gone south over the Med, then travelled north over E Europe and then westwards towards the UK. We are not within the 528 dam on Monday on this FAX: http://212.100.247.1...g?1262882087981

there wont be no warm sector as its coming from a cold continent.. its been explained time and time again in the model forums..

Sigh, he was talking about the weekend, it may be marginal on the coasts, as has been mentioned many times now...

Here we go boys. Looking longer term. Thr East wind is with us up till Wednesday next week, then it goes into a south Easterly direction. Then the high slips back to the north again, and this reopens the Easterly door again...its not looking good...for salt supplys. Anybody have views on a south easterly. I know europe is in the same cold snap, but what about snow fron that direction ????

Boys?

Hmmm that chart produced is interesting.

There is minor minor evidence of a tiny shortwave travelling across the pyrenees. Now i hope tis is due to forcing but if a little lee side low develops there it would start to pull the high to the NE south and the lows in the atlantic would stand better chance of attack...which from a SW perspective could be quite lush.

definately one to watch that and wonder if any of the other pros have comments on the mountain shortwave feature over the pyrenees...it is very short though so may not amount to much.

I'm not saying we do! I'm just saying there is some very slightly milder air within the easterly flow which is what may make the snow fall as rain on the coast.
