I dare say if it hadn't have been wettish marginal snow and not melting the whole time you could have had 2/3 times that, half a metre.

So close (as Jon said) we could almost smell the success. Too much time between the cold Easterly blast of 3 days ago should this event had occured the day the snow started to melt, I think it could have been a much different story.

thats exactly what i thought last night."if this snow fell 3 days ago we would be buried in the stuff". ah well, theres still plenty of winter to get through yet. remember, the winter of 1947 only started n jan 18th. :)

Maximum temperature so far this January reached today, a staggering 3.9C! Skies are clearing so I might be in for a cold night.

Down to -0.5C now with a very thick fod around. All the snow has completely gone at lower levels (with the exceptions of the various snowmen remains) though the Galtees and Knockmealdowns are as picturesquely white as they have been. Must be some serious snow depths up there now!

all snow gone here but took a drive up sliabh beagh area this evening and only got as far as 200mts asl and had to turn back. alot of snow there still and road practically impassible. friend told me they got 8 inches of snow on that road at 200mts on monday so would imagine higher up got an extra foot on top of the foot or so that was there. above 300mts now has had full snowcover for 28 days in a row! might be able to walk up there on sunday but doubt if there will be much left after next few mild and wet days.

a balmy 9.1c here with very heavy rain. river already burst its banks today, so its not taking much rainfall for flooding to occur.

Maxed out at 9.3c yesterday, been raining pretty much 2 days constant.

Last night was horrificly windy, if the trees were in full bloom a fw would be down, but nothing much destruction wise occired in my area.

Currently 7.5c

Hit 9.8C yeasterday, highest of the year so far. Currently 5.9C after an overnight low of 2.9C.

Agreed The Wather, some impressive wind last night, though maybe it just seemed it because it's been a while since we've had a decent storm!

Things are pretty zzzzzzzz over here for a while. No snow in the next 10 days I wouldn't think. Pinning hopes on a retrogression of that useless scandi block to Greenland to bring in a northerly.

February is usually the best month for snow in NI, so fingers crossed.
