I cannot believe it's snowing again here. It's filling in all the gaps of old snow which we have spent 6 days digging lol!!!

The met/BBC are playing this down as they got saturday so wrong and maybe there worried about milk panic buying again ha!

I'm off to sleep. Snow is really coming down. Wow what a winter. I'm 25 never seen so much snow here in Sussex before. It's great. I will never forget this past week for the rest of my life!

The temperature has taken a rather sudden dip in the last 10 mins from 0.8 to 0.4. It has been stuck on 0.8 since 4pm! DP is -2.3. Slight change in wind direction perhaps?

I'm going to bed and getting an early rise for once as I believe anything substantial is going to hit us around rush hour.

Night to all the brave souls staying awake.

Night Mikel. Hope you wake to summink!

Looks like the (very light) ppn ahead of the front is just about to reach the Richmond area/M4 in the SW of London, but a little time to wait still for some of us still as the ppn is moving in a NNW'ly direction, so the swathe will take longer to reach those to the East of the capital.

Light snow falling here in Wallington for about 5/10mins, settling on cars already.

Cool, glad to hear. I was wondering what the hell had happened to everyone in Surrey, Sussex and Bucks. But obviously you lot have all had enough snow already, so you aren't following it.

The rest of us in central London have also dissappeared, but I guess they are just expecting it to be another damp squib.

Personally, I think this may be my best chance for some decent snow!

Have had bugger all here considering, it never settled outside my front door throughout this whole scenario, so it would be lovely to have a quick stroll in the snow.

Anyone else agree that the "mass" seems to be moving at a very rough guess of 20 MPH. I've been monitoring it for hours and always seems to be roughly 20.

If so on the line London to Southampton, it looks to have about 4 hours worth. Kent line looks ...maybe 2?????

All very roughly calculated, with thumb and milage estimates :)

Yes I'm surprised to see so few people around here. When was the se'ern thread ever deserted during a potentially major night time snow fall. I'm actually now in oxford, but even though we've had 1-2 hours now of pretty enthusiastic snowfall, cars with complete covering now and all, there's no one over there either.

I hope so...I have my doubts that it will actually have enough ppn to even settle if it is snow, if it borderline, then it is likely to go the wrong way for me.

But the addiction of radar watching seems to be taking a grip on me! :)

Anyway, goodnight WCSH, and hopefully your snow gets a topping up!

EDIT: I like your method of measuring HW, seems accurate enough to me according to my thumbs. :)

Alas this front appears to have picked up speed and portends the end of our brief cold spell which in the beginning had :) such pristine snow and was a delight to see once the sun shone on it.

Woe, Woe and thrice times woe :)

The wind has icked up, and the ppn is due to hit me any second. But It;s taking it's time even at this close range.

I hope it is snow, not snizzle.

EDIT (2:23): Just started snowing here, first few flakes and very light, but at least they are flakes, not drops!!!

Sno' problem must have gone for his walk in the Snow at long last. I'm sure he will be back with his report.

I didn't feel like talking to myself!!

It is still only an icing sugar covering here, but it is picking-up slowly.

At least it is settling...so far.

Good early morning to you crazy people :)

Once again, blizzard conditions in the north-west of the metropolis. Everything snowed under, but its certainly most welcome. Will make for a nice pictorial Wednesday.

At least no quakes here.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH! It was just beginning to settle and then it seems to have turned to sleet.

Really need the ppn to pick up, otherwise it's curtains.

well, the snizzle began here about 20 mins ago. instantly dragged temp down to 1.0 from 1.3....now 0.9...

should garner a cm or 2 by dawn for london, provided the temps don't rise anf ppn stays heavy enough.

How did you know? Are you an insider? :drinks:

If you look at the radar over the evening, the heavy ppn that lingered over the Cherbourg area has now joined the party and has caught up with the front South of Brighton on the current radar, so has bolstered it considerably.

EDIT: The sleet has turned back to snow and there are some flakes now, rather than the tiny polystyrene balls it started with.
