15th-21st January 1881 = -6.44C

That's the coldest week I can find, followed by 6th-12th February 1895 (-6.29C). 26th January - 1st February 1776 came in at -6.24C.

Anyway, I think we can safely say February won't finish below -8.1C. :)

There have been some cold weeks!

I'm sure we didnt even have a day with the CET below -6C in the past few months!?

We had loads of days/nights with CET below -6 including 3 days in a row here in Bicester last month !

Manley has not been updated for a few days.

Hadley 3.6 up to the 7th.

Yesterday came in at 2.1, so Hadley now at 3.4

I suspect we are heading towards an eventual turn out between 2-3.5C right now, thats the range I'm looking at unless the cold spells becomes very prolonged but as of now I suspect we will see something of a warm up towards the very end of the month and thus an end result more like March 06, in that the first 20 days come in well below average followed by a rise in the CET towards the last week or so.

Not too bad at all. I think a third below average month this winter is almost guaranteed, and I suspect my initial guess of 3.2C (it was something like that!) might end up a bit too high...

Well Ian Brown's prediction made on the 23rd of January and I quote........

"Expect the period Feb 1 to Feb 10 to be the mildest 10 days of the winter thus far CET wise."

.... turned out to be incorrect. The mildest 10 day period for the CET for this winter is still 2nd-11th December with 6.7C

I suspect that it will stay that way as well Ian but who knows!

Something between 3-4C now looks about the finishing point IMO, the set-up for the next 7-10 days looks pretty close to average, what side of average probably will depend on cloud cover amounts.

Hadley is 3.0C to the 12th after yesterday came in at 2.7C.

Tomorrow's update will likely see little change as maxima are generally 3-6C and last night came in at -0.1C.

The next week or so looks pretty average, perhaps cool. A lot depends on cloud amounts.

I'm expecting it to get colder during the second half of Feb with bitterly cold easterly winds. My 3.2C looks like being too highsmile.gif

Yep I can't see there being much change over the next 7 days or so, after that all depends on what the Atlantic decides to do, either way I can't see the CET coming out much outside the 3-4C range unless we get a decently milder flow for the last week of the month or so.

2.9c to the 13th, -1.2c

Does there look like any rise is on the cards in the near future? (I hope not)

Looks below to average for the time being so a slow slight rise is on but a very slow one.

Yeah I totally agree Pit, something between 3-4C is going to be the eventual outcome, it looks fairly close to average and therefore only perhaps a very slow rise occuring, I'd have thought a 3rd below average month is very much on the cards.

No rise likely and indeed I think there is a chance of a further fall off of values as go towards the end of the monthsmile.gif

Must admit that my prediction looks to be a bit off, i believe the CET will be in the 2.5C to 3.5C, still quite a bit below average.
