Just screen grabbed that image and increased the contrast. I didn't see it yesterday but some people on another forum are saying it doesn't look as bad, whilst others say it's looking worse.

Yesterday evening the plumes were very impressive at times, thick and black but heading more or less vertically.

Today they seem more spread out and heading off screen so hard to compare really?

Am bemused by the number of people saying they can smell something in the air - that's impossible in southern england - more likely the drains - lol

Sorry to hear that. Most insurance and travel companys are covered as this is a natural disaster/act of god. It's bad news as I am meant to be traveling to turkey on Thursday. The only saving grace is I still have 5 days and I'm home rather than being stranded there. I do feel for those that are stranded not good

Sorry what I mean is they are covered in the fact that the consumer is screwed we have a booking with a very large company and it's not good for me either. Let's just hope there are some improvements

So I think myself, "what the hell flight is that coming into NE Scotland"

It's callsign is BHL45. Quick google search and it's a Bristow helicopter (not a plane as shown). Guess it's flying into Aberdeen from one of the North Sea oil rigs.

There have been some planes flying about this morning and I saw (and posted a pic) of a chopper that snuck into one of the sunset pics last night.

Bristows is one of the firms that flies workers to and from the rigs. Probably doing a crew change.

JFK to Luton flight landed at Glasgow this morning. Last airliner to make it. Some lucky people onboard that one, even if they have a little hardship in getting bussed down the road!

I think you can see the ash in the sky today here. The airs very dry and I wouldn't call it a heat haze. It's the sort of haze like ozone over a city after a long warm spell and high pressure.

Anyway webcams have gone off for me server cannot be found which I presume is overload or perhaps a chunk of Iceland has gone air borne. :whistling:

Vodafone webcam is fine here:

Yeh I was looking at some others. I suspect they're overloaded.

Quite hazy here today! Perhaps a bit more than yesterday, so another amazing sunset to come!

The volcano is continuing to erupt so I wonder how how much SO2 is emitted and how it compares to large volcanic eruption of last year (e.g. Redoubt, Sarychev etc.)!
