For those in Kent, keep an eye on those showers just leaving NE France, they look to be swinging back round into Kent and are currently electrical - but we know what the Channel likes to do with storms :D

Countrywide? They would do. Low pressure is centred right over head in the south-east throwing the showers around it

Yeah. Just had a glance at the wind vectors too. It's almost circular.

Fingers crossed for those potential showers over Exmoor to beef up. They've got our name on them!

Still no thunderstorms around at the minute, but it looks like the sun has really pepped some of those showers up. Small cells are forming south of here so it looks like we are thankfully in for a dry day. Sky looks menacing around here but the clouds are empty. South Wales into South West England looks like seeing the best of any thundery activity today as those showers move in a North Easterly direction. :D

glad you're not my navigator!.....they're moving SSW, complete 180 degree opposite!...lol

Just to add, has anyone noticed if you play the loop on the radar, that those showers are rotating like a small pressure system?

that's because they are rotating around a small LP system

Sorry wasn't concentrating. :)

I was just having a look on XC weather at the wind. Didn't bother to check properly. :)

New strikes being picked up every update just having left France.

Interesting for those down South.

Jane, That cell moving in from the NE is quite intense.

Look at the sat 24 sat loop and you an see its exploded quite quickly.

Only cells electrical are those in France into the channel currently. Hopefully it will be our turn later.

Few spots of rain now coming out of a passing storm cloud it looks quite fast moving so probably will not be here for long.

Here's a quote from Paul

'Because the system relies on 2 or more detectors to detect the strike and triangulate it's position, it will sometimes miss weak and isolated lightning.'

So localised storms that are rather weak wont be picked up on.

Nice looking shower to the south of here on the Rain Today radar but due to the time delay on the radar it may have already passed here. The east of Cheshire looks like its seeing more in the way of some action.

I feel sorry for this area, too far west for the thunderstorms that hit Manchester on Thursday, too far north for any action today.... reminds me of winter when it snows in every direction within a 20 mile radius of here but it never quite makes it to Crewe properly; a bit like that itch that you can never get to on your back, despite what angle you attack it from! I think we should move the town to nestle on top of the pennines :D

I know what you mean we seem to miss any extremes here in Crewe the contrast between the south and north of Cheshire is quite unbelieveable at times paticulary when it comes to storms in Summer and snow in Winter.

Showers are moving in the best direction for me, not getting modified by the channel or the Brecons. Hopefully the should intensify as the sun is out here.

It threw it down about 30 mins ago here, sun is out now but there looks to be more showers on the way. It feels weird looking at the showers moving straight Westerly on the radar
