Hello CF.

You are currently under one of the more explosive cells down south. Another is slowly tracking inland NNE'wards possibly towards Fordingbridge and maybe Winchester eventually (heads up stormforce-beka) Also the Plymouth area is in line for something good.

It's going to be a long night yet! :drinks:

Cheers

Why hello! I haven't even been tracking this or knew it was forecast! I think I heard some distant rumbles so on went the strike alert and its going mad then stops lol. I saw the radar and wondered if it was storms. T'will it be my luck night ...

I am near Portsdown Hill, sat in the garden shed office, can hear rumbles, think we're sandwiched b/w the cells in the NEw Forest and Brighton, which way is eveything headed, I have the extra radar, can't tell lol

Oh how I wish was under it! Instead it seems to be flirting with the coast here and looks to move ashore further west (OOPS meant East) around Worthing. It has just started raining now though so here's hoping.

But not extremely heavy as in Brighton mentioned below, I reckon further east the better for this one.

Yes CF I'm wrong and the bulk of it is further to your East, Worthing, Shoreham & Brighton all getting hammered and now the NF cell appears to be the most active.

How do I pinpoint this locations so well, it's all down to v5 NW Radar, it is the bee's knees and it's arms and legs at times such as now.

Good Radar and Sky watching guys n gals.

I do hope your write..I am about 10 mins drive from Heathrow :p

Well the urban affect gives it's more juice, the downs will give it uplifting. Either way they should intensify unless it's a weak front/trough.

It's "forecast" to keep its kick in the next few hours and possibly even intensify!

These scenarios however have often seen the juice run out as it heads in land - we'll see though! Naturally, I have every part of my crossable anatomy crossed :D

Two active areas just raced through the area.

The first pounded Bournemouth with torrential rain and multiple CG's, as my son was telling me over the phone we could see them from where we live.

The second one just wafted through, giving an opportunity to have another crack at nightime lightning shots, one was really good, the second because the storm had moved was just on the edge, and the last, I just switched the manual timer off as it struck, bahoolucks......

Oh well one shot is worth a thousand Kansas shots, as they are so rare in this part of the UK

I gave up time ago, storms either go past Bristol or wait until there past us then erupt,I vowed not to take an interest in the next set up as it will be a waste of time,Bristol no storms capital of england!

Agreed! It seems to have gone from a fantastic place to have thunderstorms to the place for people who are scared of thunderstorms to go.

Not sure if I'm supposed to post a screen-print, so apologies if not. Heaviest rain crossing the Sussex coast, and moving towards the NE. No lightening here in the last 15 mins though, despite the intensity of the rain (which has now started to diminish anyway).

Just seen part of the cloud shield to the south light up with lightning - from here in south London B)

No exactly frequent - but nice to be able to see storms at night even if they are some distance away!

First flashes and rumbles have been spotted to my west - probably closer to Southampton / New Forest. Very intermittant and damned impossible to photograph (I've been hanging out the loft window trying!) Started at approx 2115hrs. Nothing now though :cray:
