Morning all!

Well. here's today's update, as we can see, we are starting to pull back the blue anomolies, especially over America.

But, there still should be alot more snow over Scandi'.

Snow still pretty reluctant to cross into Europe.

Looking at the webcams in the alps, tomorrow's image should look a little different :) well, on the mountains anyway!

On yesterdays update, there was no snow on the Pennines (CH was thinking of the Southern Uplands), however, today:

Just as well we don't have an easterly at present - lack of snow cover over europe would probably just be resulting in cloudy cool conditions.

The Alps should see a fair bit of snow over the next few days and scandi should start to see some decent top ups. Interesting how far west russia is starting to loose some snow thanks to the mild southwesterlies.

evening all!

Very encouraging to see the positive anomolies affecting most of northern Britain.

Here are today's updates, followed by an image of last year at the same time for comparison.

And just look at Texas!!!! :o

Surely its the cold uppers that determined whether Easterlies are convective or not?? If we got a Scandi high via the PV coming down into Scandi and it hits us, the Easterly will be convective regardless the lack of snow cover?

That said the set up in Scandi and into Russia is looking very poor, very modest upper air temps to say the least and the set up will not help the lack of sea ice in the Laptev Sea.

Good too see Hudson Bay finally freezing up properly now, this should continue as conditions look more than favourable for new ice to form.

we are still above average for snow cover in the UK, remember that last December was the coldest on record.

Maybe this December won't be the coldest on record, but looking at the charts, it could be the snowiest, especially for Scotland?!

Just because we experienced a lot of snowfall this time last year across a large area of the United Kingdom and this year it just been restricted to the North doesn't mean we are below average, Infact excluding last year, we are pretty much doing well!

Sorry guys didn't mean to start such a debate. However on another positive note in answer to above come on Norway looks like it has stepped up. I have Norwegian in laws and just on their Facebook postings there is a "hurra sno" status. Now I don't speak a word of Norwegian but I think that is fairly understandable. Strikes me though as a little strange to post on a status. They normally are fed up with the snow and weather there so maybe this time they were feeling it overdue? Anyway they are based in Bergen I believe. I shall look forward to seeing the updates tomorrow. X
