Anyone know where the centre of this system is located now? We're suppose to be seeing our strongest winds in the coming few hours.

I think it's delayed slightly, because regional news has said again that rush hour in the NE is when the strongest winds will transfer east....strange that more southern areas to here are experiencing stronger gusts and are only in the yellow area?

Does anyone know when Warwickshire/West Mids will peak in wind speeds??

around 18.00 hrs, likely to be substantially reduced between then and 22.00 hrs (ish)

Max wind-speed achieved here over the last 15 years is 78 MPH in 2007.

Hopefully we can beat that.

"The wind lifted the pitched roof from the building under construction, it landed on 15 cars, which we believe belong to staff of a nearby bakery.

Still very windy here, consistent gusts to 55/60mph all day but nothing of significance has come from it.

A few trees down but that's about it.

You would of needed 75/80mph consistently to see damage.

Severe gales here, just got back from the sea front down the road - top gust 74.6mph I couldn't breathe and I did get blown off my feet ! most gusts were 55-65mph mean speeds between 40-50mph. My face is covered and burning with the salt!!!

Think I may have spoken to soon, just had a few repeated gusts here in the region of 65mph and now part of the roof has come away on the block of flats, it's just banging against the side of the building....I'll try get some pics for later... odd really as it doesn't seem that strong the wind at the minute...

I think I'll remember the build up to this ex-hurricane rather than the winds. 40mph isn't anything special.......

Perhaps its the average wind-speed thats causing the issue rather than the gusts which are probably just exasperating the issue.

Maybe, although thinks do seem to be becoming slightly more intense. I have just checked the forecast again and they keep saying that the worst of the winds wont be here in the NE until rush hour so 5-6pm ish?

Nono, I didn't pay any attention to the media, I just expected more than 40mph, which sucks considering ever the far South beat that, and they were forecast a relatively calm day compared to us.. -.- :(

Just as I was about to join in the chorus of cynicism about overhype, the winds have picked up markedly in Glasgow. Probably not as bad as May though, as far as I can tell. And probably not worse than many previous autumn storms.

You think it's bad now? Give it an hour. The isobars look twice as tight as they are now over your area. I would expect 80mph for you soon.

Even here wind-speeds alone are touching 40 MPH.

It seems windier where you are though so perhaps 50 MPH.

Wind has died a death here now, no gusts as such, so it seems this system has cleared away in terms of gusty winds here.

Top gust 41mph today, strong but not unusual. But I suspected this might happen, based on the models.

By the coast it was much windier though..
