Wow. What a cold front that was !! Its just blasted through the NW London suburbs and was one of the most impressive Ive seen in a very long time. Almost Derecho like.

Yep, was pretty active, just passed over here. 28mph max gust and a peak rain rate of 28mm/hour. Temp and dew point start to drop off slowly.

Well just spotted a pile of snow on the side of the road then concluded that a freezer delivery vehicle must have intentionally offloaded some surplus cargo.

Afraid that looks as good as it gets down this way. Have given up wishing. So who knows what 2012 will conjure up.

Enjoy the mud everyone.

Festive cheers

Forget the snow Coast, is the booze still in the garage?:drinks:

Have a good one, I'll lurk off back to my neighbourhood, the CSE thread, where it became oddly busy for a post or two today. :shok: Back to normal service from here on in. Mind you, I don't ALWAYS take the models as GOSPEL. :smiliz34: so you never know.

Greetings.

Doesnt look to good at present looks mild or very mild with a few slightly colder slots, i think we were very lucky last year, i can always remember when i grew up everytime it snowed i counted it and every year the snow days went down, i can still remember most years were about 15-20 days, i know it is only December but even looking into Jan there is no real potential there, very Zonal

Have a good Xmas and New Year everyone! Will be back in the new year when hopefully things will be looking better for cold and snow!

Teleconnective signals are looking more promising than of late for northern blocking in the second half of winter, so the potential is certainly there!

Merry christmas

Steps to help you enjoy a very mild Christmas Eve:

1. log fire

2. home made pizza

3. vin rouge

4. home made mince pies

5. home made sloe gin

6. presents ready to go in kids' stockings

7. (optional) more sloe gin

after completing this list you probably won't care that it isn't snowing!

Happy Christmas

AS

A very Merry Xmas to all fellow South Easterners and their families. Some more positive signs this morning in the forecast models.

Hopefully a trend to more wintry weather will develop in the forecasts as we move towards next weekend.

Heres wishing for some cold and snowy weather as we head further into January. Those who dont like cold and snow........Go Hibernate! Only joking!

Have a great day.

Best Wishes,

Tom

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
