light dusting on the edges here in bexley S
Steve, the 06z today looks a bit grim don't you think? Eastward movement of the cold with Atlantic moving quite quickly in at the weekend? I'm only a beginner though so could have this wrong - I hope I have. Edited by abruzzi spur

I'm guessing snizzle is snow/drizzle?

Sounds like something Snoop Dogg would say.

GFS 6z does make this a more knife edge weekend for us. From a really really selfish point of view, my locale has been under a pink area for several runs and for almost the whole weekend. Anyway, as we get closer to the cold, I must be careful not to lead people astray with run to run comments, only viewing one models output and using snow risk charts that are a rough guess at best - I just can't help ramping!!

Hi jo.

No that band will not reach us.

You need to look towards Colchester & Ipswich for any showers that may hit our region...

Yes but this chart is also showing it should be snowing now.

The GFS snow chart (as I'm sure you know) is pretty vague at best. To be honest I think our chances of substantial snow fall seem to be diminishing with every run at the moment :sorry:

Such a shame as the charts a few days ago showed us being in a real freezer akin to last winter. Still we should have a good chance of a streamer or snow showers at some point between wed night to friday. However I think Roger's prediction of thundersnow and 60cm will be far of the mark............................Yamkin, please prove me wrong and say we'll all be getting 6ft drifts ;)

But when you ramp you do it so nicely! And you give us a clear warning in advance of impending rampiness.

This weather we are having reminds of when I was in Prague two years ago

Very cold and snow grains all weekend not doing anything

Was hoping the north see and Thames would pep these showers up a bit

Longing for something that resembles a flake now lol

Technical question, can anyone help please? As the precipitation is so light and the air so dry beneath, is the precipitation mostly evaporating before it reaches the ground? Could that explain why the radar shows something but most of what we are getting is nothing?

If this is a daft question then I apologise.

Thanks

AS

Looks like some decent showers popping up in the Thames on a NE/ENEerly wind flow! Early days but minor streamer territory...

When do you think our best chance for snowfall is? I'm thinking Wednesday night into Thurs morning with the cold uppers coming in, it may create some good convection in the North Sea with the vast temperature differences and set us up with a Kent Streamer (winds are to N/E'ly to be a Thames Streamer). There is still time for change...................................

Thoughts anyone?

Still moderate snizzle/graupel here. I don't believe this was forecast by any model and with the precipitation looking like it's increasing there are certainly straws to clutch in the short term...
