Every surface is an ice rink, never seen anything like it. You can hardly stand up. i have had to get my crampons out! be very careful people. I can see A&E full of broken hips today.

Yep, same here, whole family still at home. Temp rising steadily though, up to -1.4C from -2.4C in an hour, I reckon it'll only be this bad for another couple of hours at most. The very first 30 mins of rainfall might be 'interesting' though.

Yes, BBC forcast this morning has made me laugh, it began at 13:00. I think they don't know what is going to happen so are glossing over it.

Been raining (with some bits of sleet mixed in) for a few hours here now. 2.6C, easterly wind, foggy, absolutely horrible.

The outlook is positively vile - far-fetched southerlies with temperatures possibly up to 15C around Christmas. Vomit-inducing nonsense. Thank god I'm leaving for a short while.

I quite like that prospect, seems to have been full-on winter for weeks already.

A break from it will be very pleasant.

It won't reach 15C except in a few favoured spots if it happens at all.

I'm very pleased with the outlook. Exams all through January, I don't have time to mess around radar watching till 3 am. Had a massive toll in December 2010, for my standard I effectively failed those exams lol.

Strat thread looks good for late winter cold from around Jan onwards.

Sorry for my poor punctuation I'm on my phone in the midst of a 5 hour revison session.

As we are staying at home this christmas and not driving halfway round the country, my wife wants a nice white christmas.

So i'm afraid the troposphere has got no chance. If it doesn't get it's act together soon they'll be hell to pay.

Frost still present here in the shade - I'd take weather like this for the rest of December, it will at least keep December below average or average at least.

Double figures at Christmas is horrible, if January turns out mild I'm gonna jump off a bridge :D
