Like it.

Hate to labour the point but just now, we have a SSE wind gusting over 30mph and a temp of around 1.6. Now that direction is direct off the North Sea here. That's unheard of. Very special set up I think.

BBC news 24, 21:30 forecast was basically porn (sorry that's a blatant ramp)

Yeah just watched the news24 forecast as well andit had snow showers getting right through the central belt towards the west and snow showers continuing on Saturday and Sunday with strong easterly winds ! clapping.gif

I would think her name is fairly flexible - much like herself in all probability! rofl.gif

Once again, lovely clear, starry skies up here. I've packed my new snow boots back in their box, put the shovel back in the shed.....so that surely means......?????

Dear old MO (it's like an aging aunt that you think probably means well - although sometimes you doubt it - but she's just not able to keep up these days) has the Highlands pretty well bone dry sad.pngmad.gifblink.png for the next few days according to its crappy website. Planet Shergar there.wacko.png

Lovely clear sky, 0C and a stiff breeze. (Yes, Mandy, I still think about you wub.png )

Would really like a strong north-easterly (IMBY IMBY IMBY) but can't see a way to that at presentoops.gif

I know i posted the charts but to be honest in a convective situation its pretty impossible to accurately predict especially when cant pin exactly the direction the wind shall be blowing

So who is correct?

Edinburgh Evening News:

Blizzard conditions are set to blast the Capital tomorrow, with forecasts of potential gale force winds and up to 10cm of snow as the city freezes through this winter’s coldest spell so far.

http://www.scotsman....gales-1-2742179

or Channel 4:

For those asking why Scotland wasn't mentioned in my chat, it's because heavy snow not expected there during daytime. More in my forecast.

https://twitter.com/...992340049055744

The slight difference from yesterday is that the weather front bringing the snow on Friday pivots and now has a different orientation. Rather than stretching north to south, it will stretch north west to south east.

redsnow_warning_meoffice_wp.jpgMet Office warnings issued on Thursday – click on image for more detail

As a result, Scotland and northern England are likely to see less snow on Friday than was thought yesterday, with generally no more than 2-5cm.

Or the Met Office website: (Nothing until evening and then only light snow forecast)

No wonder the general public gets confused! smile.png

Evening News/Scotsman just about the worst local forecasting anywhere. There's no doubt they just completely make it up !

Bit like their politics....

I swear the Edinburgh Evening News have that article on file and, with a few edits, trot it out at least once a winter!

I see it quite simply as an active Atlantic weather front sweeping in, hitting cold air and saying "wtf?". It slows down, either stalls and/or re-energises, or peters out, with various parts of the UK receiving a dumping (or not). Those parts are really still to be identified as the hours tick along. Forecasts are just that; forecasts. We're at Nowcasting stage whereby us mere mortals can get one over the Met O saying "BS!"

You're not wrong. Typical contradictory winter scare story from EEN would be "siberian blast grips capital ... max Temp today 6c...plummeting to -1c overnight"
