Snow still coming down here, even the radar doesn't really shown anything! Nothing heavy but if it keeps at it off an on over night then could squeeze another cm or two!

There has been a subtle change in what's going on to the east and SE of here. The streamer that was coming up the Humber and over Hull to here for the last couple of hours has now moved to the west. In other words, there must have a been a very small change in the directionn of the wind to something more easterly in nature. You can see this easily: if you look at the mouth of the Humber over the last couple of hours you will see the next streamer now moving westerly rather than parallel to the showers contained within it (NWesterly).

The change is subtle but it is there and is probably a prelude to the shifting of the wind direction more to the east. If that is the case, more showers should develop over the N Sea and move directly inland rather than obliquely as at present.

Could be a good night for all points West after all!

Snow getting heavier here :) and look at the radar, starting to look a bit better!

Also look at that heavy stuff developing between sussex and derby, could be a new convergence zone developing. This night ain't over yet ; )

Yep, gotten much heavier here with moderate intensity over the last 30 minutes.

Radar looks good, temperature -3.2.c

Temperature rising across eastern areas so it's not going to be as good as earlier hopefully temps won't rise too much.

meaning when you make a sound point regarding synoptic charts and air flow orientation you can get shot down because it does not show three days of biblical snow conditions, just saying like !!

How likely is it that the front which is shown in these shots will disintegrate or weaken/fragment as it moves North? Sorry if its a daft question!

Maybe this is the reason for the heavy snow forecast for South Yorks tomorrow morning? cc_confused.gif

Probably safer saying it in here than in the winter model thread.

BTW good call on the easterly earlier, called it way earlier than the METO and still got a load of stick for it.
