It's like Groundhog Day at the moment around here.

Just a shame that the snow isn't heavier though.

Sf I like the picture with the snow on.

Is it taken from Bacuo Rec looking down the valley.

Yes Ian, it was taken in the fields behind Bacup Rec a couple of years ago when we had really good snow in December,it's a shame it not quite the same today, but we have plenty really and I am sure it would look pretty similar if I took the same picture today, but I can't be bothered to take the dogs out as this fine snow gets everywhere and the wind is really chilling - it's just got a bit heavier here after a break.

I know what you're saying it was pretty pants but the diamond dust that followed was nice

You know the worst of it will be this winter will probably go down as an all time great. Yet as far as i can remember 09/10 had a much wider snow cover as seen by sat images but hardly gets mentioned.....

The odd flurries in the air here, BBC/met got the forecast spot on for my area yesterday albeit the system was ahead of their timing by a good few hours. I'm still pessimistic of the pennines spoiling the advancement of Sunday night's snowfall tracking from the SE but let's hope the system sails over the hills and gives a couple of cm our side. North east thread are going to be buzzing

Yes it looks nice, for all the towns faults it is surrounded by some lovely countryside and it never looks better than under snow.

oh cheers guys. a nailed on cert then Lol.

GFS gone for the breakdown over the last few days, pretty much on its own, it also keeps pushing it back. However i believe that on last nights 00z runs ECM/UKMO moved towards the GFS in forecasting a breakdown in the cold block to our N/E.

Sc do they still have the circus on the common.

Went a couple of times years ago when I was a kid.

A band of showers coming in from the East and rather surprisingly getting over the Pennines.

It seems fairly organised to me and, although not heavy could last quite a while.

This was shown as a scenario a couple of days back and although then disregarded by the forecasts always looked a possibility for today.

ok thanks

Looking at the radar, the last of the shower activity has cleared the east of the region now with nothing much showing coming our way now.

Things may pep up again but at present it looks like that is it and TBH, it goes with the forecast.
