Wouldn't it be nice if today marked a turnaround and the block said no I'm staying

Just like the 80s

Large flakes now but very wet

More sleet than snow

Heavier graupel shower now - settling on the ground - that will drag the temp down.

the met men used something rather larger but it probably had less processing power than an imac has today !

The best events tend to be the ones that crop up out of nowhere

Some extremely heavy snow in Surrey and Sussex, looks like could give a few inches to people and it wasn't forecast by any of the models

Synoptics - 8/10 - the recent ones have been fascinating but I can't forget the zonal muck that formed part of this winter

Snow - 4/10 - Last Friday gave us less than 2cm and Sunday's, though constant, was never large flakes

Frosts - 4/10 - there haven't been many recently but the run-up to Christmas during the 'failed beast' gave some good hoar frosts

Total = 16/30 = 5.33/10

I do hope so. Seems to be heading this way according to the latest radar!

I thought that it might be a Thames streamer as it cropped up from nowhere but I think looking at the direction it originated from that heavy pulse in the channel between Portsmouth and Brighton, certainly an unexpected twist to things just as people were saying goodbye to the snowy spell

Why is it snowing it was not forecast if i recall?

Moderate snowfall in W10. Looks only to be a shower from the radar.

There are some dark blues and greens between east grinstead and Guildford heading north and that to me counts as heavy ish snow ;)
