A lot of moisture out west but nothing falling. Is this so slight it's giving a false radar reading!

Out on the west of Arran it has just started v.light rain in the last hour, not enough to register on the rain gauge yet.

Just back from quite a long but pleasant day up in Aberdeenshire. As usual kept an eye on the weather and snow sightings.

Heading out of dundee still a lot of patches and large drifts about between dundee and Forfar and along walls and hedges towards brechin. Clear then until just before Stomehaven where a skiff lying. Slightly more up into Aberdeen where traffic was atrocious across bridge of dee and onto Anderson drive. (Should have taken back roads though they were slippy). Out to westhill where around 2 cms up the top and on all side roads. Across to Inverurie with some ice and snow still on back roads. Then more slippiness across to Ellon where there was a short but sharp rain shower. Back down to Aberdeen where still little bits about to afternoon then back to Stonehaven and home.

Apart from the one shower a pleasant day out.

BBC Scotland weather.....models aren't in agreement for snow Sunday, some say snow some say rain, some say it might not even be either and could be dry!!! Place your bets now folks

Radar looks pretty miserable at the minute. Appears to be fizzling out.

I just looked at it and thought it was gathering to start to moving east, it might undergo some severe intensification and turn into light drizzle

Although if you look at the traffic cameras there is reasonable precip at Drumochter :good:

Well that Reporting Scotland forecast was pretty uncertain for Sunday. It could be heavy snow but it might be rain. Or maybe dry. Apparently the computer models which currently are not in agreement should know better by tomorrow?

Edit. Beaten to it by Jon!

I'd say it's likely to be dry for the east through the day, coastal rain and inland snow moving into the southwest through the day before retreating with snow showers heading inland overnight into Monday and continuing through into Tuesday from the east, potential for good inland penetration too.

Made for amusing tv norrance. Like too hear the weatherman/woman say they really have no idea whats going on lol

Actually, I thought it was a farce. It suggested to me they have been wrong recently with snowfall and warnings, and now just don't know. I seriously think we on here forecast better than the Met O/BBC weather presenters!

BTW, why was there no red warning for Orkney, Fair isle, Shetland a couple of days ago? Highest seas in 100 years some say, combined with storm force winds, and not even a fckn limp-wristed yellow alert.nea.gif

I'm afraid the old techniques come into play in situations like this, namely, 'Stick your head out the window and see what its doing'!

Dump the supercomputers! Bring back the plummy-voiced, starched shirted weatherman, with old fashioned isobar charts, satellite pictures with pen marks on them & the odd pointer, & PROPER SYMBOLS AND MAP! Technology is overrated!! biggrin.png

Light snizzle in Armadale, not making much of an impression on the ground. Reason for the MO easing warnings was probably how late in the day the front arrived, looks similar in intensity to what was forecast 48 hours ago. NMM looks to have dealt very well with this system and again the diving line between sleet and snow appears to be a decent, once taking into account certain localised biases, indicator between settling and non settling snow.
