I'm hoping the same shower line continues into this evening when we start to see some heavier showers developing, you can see why..

Convection is threatening now. And your post reminded me of this particular song...

Heavy Graupel showers here now.

Ooooo that low over Norway is really starting to develop if GFS is to be believed. Also the -8 isotherm is coming back much quicker from the North East I think.

Just having a graupel shower here too, does anyone know why graupel falls rather than snow? Is it to do with dew points?

Had a mini snizzle blizzard for about ten seconds just then! Certainly is very gusty here this afternoon. The birds have all gone in. Wherever they go "in" to.

Blimey!! If this was August and that was a nice MCS moving this way we'd be naming that Frenchie or The Blob...that wintry blob needs a name maybe?

Hi Paul

what do you think the chances are for our neck?

Light snow showers becoming more frequent as today goes on, tomorrow looking more positive for more showery activity as the low pressure to the South pumps in moisture destabilising the air with a NE flow. Tuesday-Wednesday we could see more organised snow from a trough drifting down from Scandanavia.

Light snow here. Temp has gone down to 1c with a brisk wind making it feel bitter cold.gifcold.gif

Streamer activity is already pretty obvious now, as the evening and night goes on the winds veers more towards the ENE and eventually near due east and as a result the showers will probably spread more and more inland as the hours go by.

I haven`t a clue if we are to expect something or not, I`m on data overload, baffled.

Not sure really, probably haven't paid the hidden snowflake tax. Does anyone actually know why graupel seems to fall so often instead of snow?

At what time are the winds expected to become due east? thanks

Radar beginning to provide some fireworks north of the wash now, slowly spreading south as the frontal influence from overnight heads away to the south
