Where are the locusts?

The 7 plagues of Scotland? Grasshoppers are definitely replaced by midgies!

The big blow blew down about 40% of my fencing missing my head by about 2", very scary! Great looking cloud formations this morning as the rain approached, shame i didnt have a camera handy.

Dull, wet and miserable here, and looking at the rain radar I expect that description pretty much fits for the bulk of Scotland currently.

Damp and dull this morning, although it looks a little brighter out now. We should see the wind picking up soon. Looking ahead there isn't that much of a change, perhaps some quieter days in between times but nothing warm and settled on the immediate horizon.

Some of the webcams do look quite snowy, how much melt did they have? It's hard to tell how much snow there has been since I have no idea how much snow there was previously laugh.png

The cosmetic stuff at the sides was heather yesterday. However the runs have 2ft of cover between the fences so not going to melt even if it turns back to rain. There has been a general downward trend in temps see graph:

I dunno - normally I'd agree but the way things have been going, I think for once I'd rather have mild sunny daytimes with mild wet night-times for a couple of months and let everything get back to normal - the farming, the starving wildlife, the gardens that don't know whether to be droughted or frozen or soggy...

A grey and sometimes wet day here, also as N13 has pointed out, rather colder than expected. Hat & gloves were back on after a couple of days of respite.  Glad to get this rain, keeps the dust down; however, growth is still slow.

Another wet day, currently very windy here.  Endrick was close to bursting at Drymen when I went past late afternoon.  Good four or five feet above what it had been mid morning.  Looked like snow was down to around 600-700m on the Arrochar Alps - spotted through a brief gap in the cloud but not sure if it had turned later.  Cloud cover far to far down to see.

They wouldnt stand a chance against the might of the midge.  Infact maybe that's it the midge is actually some ancient Celtic force to keep biblical plagues at bay.

Would be good if the midges could turn their wrath on clegs, ticks, keds, mosquitoes and other nasties.  Started my countdown to the midge season, sad old git that I am.

Damn wet here at times today, but last night's minimum was 10C.

Great find BUS, fascinating to see this at that resolution. Good stuff.

Linked a met office paper on March that is worth a read in the technical thread today, really does go hand in hand with a lot of the recent posts made on here regarding the exit from Winter.

Wet and very windy afternoon here. Currently 6.2c so not very mild. The spring equinoxial gales seem to be a few weeks late this year with a very windy week so far here.
