The temperature here is currently just 6.5c, having fallen from 6.9c about a hour ago.  No rain to speak of this evening despite very threatening clouds from time to time.  Needless to say the heating has been on!

Working from home tomorrow which should allow me to enjoy the pre-weekend sunshine and late May warmth cold rain.

Looked quite threatening as I left work in Croydon, at about 9. Fairly sharp shower over the Shirley Hills but by the time I got to Bromley (Not quite Phoenix, sorry Mr.Campbell), clouds were breaking. Skies still looked very moody towards Croydon way, though.

Any thunder, hail reported from the Croydon area around 9.30?

Some heavy ppn coming into the E/N.E. coast ready to unload on us for tomorrow.

Lovely Autumnal looking Fax for midday tomorrow....not!

My son's going camping tomorrow for a weekend music festival, at least he'll be able to spot the soggy patches in the field by time he pitches his tent in the afternoon. Hope it stays dry Sat/sun. The cold he doesn't mind, it's being wet and cold he hates.

A local AWS site does an 'on this day' look from when it started. This only confirms how cold and rubbish it is, given that since the site started with its observations we haven't had much in the way of warmth. It is down in the valley - today here it dropped to 3.8C in a heavy shower. Dreadful. http://www.stanwickweather.org.uk/history.php

+3.4C here now, may turn out to be the coldest night I have ever witnessed in 20 years of my life. Well...my dad is 65 and he can't remember the last time it was this cold around this time of year!

Certainly one of the coldest May nights I can ever remember...and looking at the figures this spring is on track to be the coldest for 30 years.

Early estimates suggest the mean UK temperature for spring will be around 6.1 °C, which would make it the 6th coldest spring in national records dating back to 1910 and the coldest since 1979 when the mean temperature was 6.0 °C:

Morning everyone, can't wait for the fireworks tonight, oh just remembered it's the end of May and not NovemberPosted Image as the weather seems to have memory loss at the moment.  It's pouring with rain and 5.3c out there and I have had to put the heating on, hopefully things can only improve from here.

Have a good day.

The coldest for 50 years in England, or since I was born in '62.

Morning all

In Reigate it is +4.4c, light rain, dew point +3.1c .  Weekend looks better (would be grim if it looked worse!)

Despite the weather, have a good day one and all

So fed up with the weather I've just booked up two weeks in the South of France in early July.

Can't stand this weather, quite how the coldies on the model thread enjoy these conditions I really can't fathom?

After a totally dire and dark week, today seems to want to top it all with the temperature here in Benny Hill barely scraping 5°C and that kind of rain that isn't enough for a full-on raincoat, but is too much for a jacket.

Looks like it's going to get wetter and windier through the day whilst remaining cold, I really do hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel and that it's not a bloke with a torch bringing a rubbish Summer forecast for us.

I've put a few charts and thoughts for today regarding the convective possibilities here:

http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/76597-upcoming-convective-storm-risk-discussion-wc-12th-may/?p=2701455

I'd like to think the NMM charts won and we saw something like yesterday in our region, but maybe a little more intense and with some more thunder and lightning. Let's see how the day goes.

Morning all.

There was a heavy rain shower when I set off from home, which had turned into decent sunshine by the time I reached Colchester. I was a bit surprised by that, but maybe I shouldn't have been, as it seems that we have an occluded wrapped around front from a fizzling depression.

Sunny intervals here at work and currently dry, with a temperature of 7C or so.

Have a good day all and hopefully a decent bank holiday break. :)

Cheers Steve.

Looks as if today's rain may be heavy at times, but should fizzle out overnight into a cloudy morning tomorrow, clearing later in the day. Dry through the BH weekend with some sunny periods but nothing to get excited about, Monday looking the best of the three days so far.

Just my two 'penneth worth, subject to change of course (it's the weather, come on Posted Image ) and please don't plan your weekend around it. I hope the break brings you everything you want.
