Pretty hefty one this and intensifying as it moves North

Looks to be North East to me Surrey, maybe just a Kent Clipper and possibly then just rain?

I have been watching that one but knowing my luck it will go to the west of the IofW!

Just thought I would point out the next thunderstorm building and approaching the Channel.. Pretty hefty one this and intensifying as it moves North

Now that looks interesting! Good timing too as the heat builds over our shores - not bad positioning for those a little further West.

Maybe there's going to be a pleasant surprise for some? because I'm leaning towards those who're in the sceptical camp...and need yet more convincing :)

yes it does look good that one, let's hope it keeps its intensity or even strengthens, if so it looks to hit the IOW and places to the east

One to keep an eye on

As I expected no real activity for the UK , just a Kent clipper. Just look at how those storms quickly steer away from us. The UK is cursed!! Rain tonight, maybe a little thundery in the south but I still don't expect much. Perhaps greater chance of a storm in cs England and the midlands tomorrow afternoon.

I might sit up on Portsdown Hill tonight if we're due to get something rolling in off the channel, I was a bit disappointed with the end result from last night but at least it's relatively bright out there this morning, still a lot of cloud around mind you.

We were so close to a storm, a bit gutted really but it was touch and go I suppose. Real action ( BIG storms ) according to the met were due tonight. But as before I hold no weight to the forecasts from the beeb

Yep - looks like yesterday's GFS 6z was on the money, offering last nights storms in the south North Sea. So, assuming that today's GFS is similarly on the money, two rather big MCS' are forecast for midnight,

However, they'd best be strong ones forming in Northern France, because, I suspect, the channel will kill the little ones off,

At least the Met Office is unequivocal about the chances overnight ...

"Very warm. Humid. Thunderstorms, especially this morning and again overnight."

I hope the 'overnight' storms are rather more exciting than this morning's...Posted Image

Without posting a shed load of NW extra NMM charts, I can tell you (if you haven't looked already) that they look similar to last night in both numerical and geographical terms. Let's hope today gets a little hotter than yesterday and the heat transfers into the darker hours.
