Borderline hot in London at the moment - thermometer was reading 27C earlier, not sure how accurate that is!

Am heading down to Dymchurch tonight, hoping to catch some distant flashes and fingers crossed something a bit closer. Expectations not high though to be honest - would be good news for everyone inland as the minute I arrive there some cells will no doubt fire close to where I live :D

It's 25.4 here close to Heathrow so you could well be recording higher. Today definitely feels like it may thunder later...is Kent the favoured spot at the moment?

More highly favoured by virtue of the fact it is the closest to France/Benelux...beyond that its a toss of the coin jobby.

With far higher temperatures today and a trough expected to approach from the south during the night, there is a small chance of something homegrown initiating.

But I have to say, you're speaking to someone who is feeling exceedingly pessimistic (or realistic depending on how you view it).

To summarise, don't expect anything. If you get something, it'll be a bonus!!

Saw that trough on the fax charts, fingers crossed!!! Wish I'd slept more last night as tonight could be worth staying up for. Noticed on the satellite runs a thin ribbon of cloud moving down from the NW....is that the cooler uppers arriving?

Hmm...those firing near Paris will almost certainly swerve NE as the day progresses. It would be nice if something fired further North and NorthWest as they IMO would have a better track.

If you run the satellite back from this morning, the MCS which fired pretty dead centre of N France managed to swing East and miss us entirely. Even though the Low has now moved further east and we are under a more pronounced SE-NW motion, I would expect any larger storms/MCS to swing NE as before. I hope to be wrong through.

The cloud came over and the temp dropped by over three degrees. :( I wouldn't mind if something initiated but i failed to reach my target for the warmest day of the year lol

Just hit 27.0C here on my highly inaccurate thermometer as well funnily enough, do two negatives make a positive?

Had a peak across on wetterzentrale and the majority of the models are in favour of introducing heavy precip across southern and SE England through the night and into tomorrow morning.

BBC and MetO still keen for this also.

Estofex to be fair has Kent and E Sussex under a 15% zone, through whether that was to cover this mornings coastal storms is anyone's guess.

Am pleased quite a few areas of France are going bang at the moment rather than C and E France.
