Storm of the century lol....duped by the express

LOL - we need to explain to Mike Masco what an Easterly is, then send him the 'That ECM' chart. Phenomenal Ramp, quality. Twitter has self regulated and explained the Express love a mad headline.

That squall line is still firing away, somewhere out there someone on a boat / offshore installation is about to get a surprise!

Love the contrast from this afternoon through Wednesday > Thursday.

This about sums up tomorrow, pick your time slot on the modelling, it's a constant.

And finally the 500 and Cape nice 480dam there and buckshot convection, aka 'blobs' on radar when they start tracking through.

What a couple of days ahead, can see a few traditional snow shields getting a right test.

Great post Lorenzo and yes love the old twitter self regulation....

January 8 2011 delivered beautifully here and that was the last real proper snowfall of the famous 10\11 winter in these parts

For sure great to have such a few days of interesting weather and with the signals for potential blocking starting show could have a real mix of great wintry conditions this year

Just been outside to my garage and the heavy rain showers have been starting to turn sleety.

Some very good posts and analysis in here tonight, looking forward to the next few days !

Am liking the Metoffice warning for Friday for this area...

A period of rainfall is likely to fall as snow over high ground, before transitioning to snow at all levels, during the early hours of Friday morning. Snow may be moderate or heavy at times, and may well last for several hours. Accumulations of 2-5 cm are possible across lower parts of the warning area, with 10-15 cm possible above about 200 m.

GFS(P) takes the secondary low a bit further north again, affecting the southwestern quadrant of Scotland, but after a day of southward corrections it will be interesting to see if we see if the models shift it further north tomorrow:

Wasn't expecting this tonight, but it's snowing lightly out there now at 1C and settling on non-saturated surfaces...

(11 o'clock edit - be good to get a wee bit more before this small pool of very cold air fax off and the next noisy b'stard comes in for the morning. My nearest lamp-post is about 5 miles away so it's a case of repeated door-openings...)

It is tipping it down here, not far from you I think Ross, if this were a few degrees cooler we would be getting pasted.

Edit - sideways, downways, upways, squally sleet. :cold:

Excellent Ross that's a good start.... Interesting to see the parallel that bit further north...can't help getting a bit excited thus secondary low could be a massive bonus for many of us and a memorable event potentially....woops I'm ramping

Torrential sleet here.... Will it get cold enough later.... You never know

Yep, very blustery shower. I'm not much higher up than you and we got some deposits on cars/windows etc so I. Imagine later in the night you'll be on for some snow :)

Hey, here we go.

Showers fair crashing across with the high wind speeds.

Still hanging around 4 C here with rain, but sounding wild. Which is fun.

Showers of sleet now, wondering whether I will wake up to at least some snow on the grass, probably not. The wind is enough to keep me satisfied just now! :D

Wet snow here now

Edit: Or possibly just snow on wet surfaces? Either way, temp now at 0'C.
