According to Paul Hudson, the all time Yorkshire record is 36.0c in Wakefield. Wonder if this will be broken today?

My station has just hit 33.2c making it the highest temperature reading I have recorded since 2011.

I would be absolutely amazed if 36c wasn't reached in South Yorks/WestYorks

34.1C. That's our all time record smashed!

It's only taken 32 years!

Just woken up from a nice siesta nap.
My reading is an amazing 35.6  C  !
Pottered outside for 5 mins just to experience that level of heat.
The thermometer in the full sun is reading 45 C  ..  OMG
I pray man and beast are able to find shade and water.

It's not that bad and you've probably experienced this before in Spain, Italy or Greece. Humidity is relatively low at around 15%-20%, this is generally a dry heatwave, the only problem will be the nights when humidity is rising to 50%-60%. This will be uncomfortable.

If the skies stay clear temperatures should fall away fairly well.

We're edging closer to a new record in Sheffield, aren't we? After a brief dip the temps are climbing again. Weston Park was just half a degree shy of its record at 3pm, at 34.7C.

Other stations have already made it into the low 35s.

Pushing 37c here on Sheffield Border my lad said it didn't feel that hot in the house went on the back garden for 10 mins and was complaining about his breathing and that is a lad that is athletic this heat really is brutal.

I think somewhere in Lincs Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border somewhere will breach 38c today I would be surprised if it wasn't breached given that some stations are showing 37c.

32.8c max here so far. it's getting breezier and cloudy. Humid night incoming. As I've mentioned before this is the main issue, humid and warm nights.

I know there's a microclimate factor in Harrogate but METO forecast for max T was a bit off. At least the amber warning was justified, no need for a red one here.

34.8C here and pretty static now. Considering we've blasted through the July record by 3.1C and all-time record by 0.8C Im still willing it up to reach that 35.0C. 😄

37c here now I am starting struggle with the heat now and my fan appears to be starting to blow warm air 😭

It's bizarre it didn't blow warm air earlier! These fans are ok for temps around 30c and some brief relief. After a while they just circulate the warm air that keeps on building inside the room. This is why places in Greece and Spain use fans that also spread a bit of water droplets making it more fresh.

Leeds Bradford Airport official weather station showing a high of 33c.

Leeds University weather station showing a high of 36c

A few miles from each my local ones showing 97c, although I suspect calibration is an issue.

My garden thermometer showing 32c in the shade (under a tree).

New record for us. 35.6C on the Davis and 35.4C in the stevenson screen and still time to edge higher.

Trick is to open your doors and windows when it cools down (I did it at 3am when I was awake for 20 mins). Then when the outside and inside temperature is equal in the morning shut all doors and windows, plus curtains and interior doors.

People with windows open for a breeze are just letting hot air on their house l, then when they shut them it's got nowhere to go 😭
