Still edging upwards here too. Just hit 35.3C a few minutes ago. Absolutely remarkable.

Peaked at 36.2c. Doubt any higher now as become quite cloudy and breezy. But wow all around.

Question about Weston Park weather station.... why do they say (on their twatter) the record is 35.1°C in 2019? I remember it being 35.6 as well. Also, they say they've "matched" 35.1 today but clearly reached at least 35.9. ?

Well scrap that, temps just went up to 37.2 just now at 7pm. Strange but there we go 🤣🥵

Surely we're going to smash 40 tomorrow?

Did you get some late evening sun shining horizontally onto the screen?

I use to find with my VUE it would overread early morning and late evening as the shield was less protected by direct sunlight.

Dropping here now but only very slowly 31.6c.

Yes it's possible, I'll check that out!

Thanks Andy, guess not much I can do to modify it unless I try put a shield up in the direction the sun is a few metres away maybe

It even happens with my Davis VP2 which has a much bigger shield.

When the sun is high in sky the station is designed to protect the shield from direct sunlight but when its low there's not much you can do if you don't have a fan assisted radiation shield.

You need a 24hr fars for more accurate readings as vizzy2004 says and keep them clean.

Also keep an eye on the UV damage.

Getting cold here at 33.8C a fairly rapid drop in temperature.

What are the overnight records for our area? Not sure on those. I know Sheffield only just set a new one a few weeks back didn't it?

Looks widely like a tropical night anyway and would be interesting to see if the records go

Still 27.3c here at 20.39pm.

The only record to be broken in North Yorkshire today is RAF Fylingdales high up on North York Moors near Goathland.

A high of 31.6c was recorded here beating the previous record of 31.4c set in August 1990.

All records set to go tomorrow, by how much will be the interesting part.

Too be honest I don't know. Last night was one of the warmest on record at 19.3C however this month the nights haven't been notably warm. The next warmest was 16C on the 12th which isn't anything special. Anyway temperatures falling faster than predicted which will be due to the dry air. As long as the cloud keeps away it maybe cooler than last night.

Now down to 29.7C.

Not bad actually… after watering tonight, the garden thermometer has just dipped under 26c 👍🏼. Thought last night was hot, think it’s down to a single sheet tonight & the fan running.
