Looks like it's ended up warmer than forecast here today, currently nearly 27c and was predicted about 25.

Noticed Sunday has been trending up last 24h or so too. Was going to be about 28 and now it's showing 31c on meto. Guess it means more chance of the record going Mon or Tues cuz the Sunday overnight min might be a bit higher....

Current forecast, for Tuesday for Brigg in Lincolnshire, if it happens that is a 3.3c jump from current record. There is no doubt in my mind that the current record will go on Tuesday, and currently Lincolnshire looks favourite to get the unenviable record. The forecasts have been pretty consistent around the 40c mark for Yorkshire and Lincolnshire for a few days now. As a heat hater I would much rather be discussing a low temperature record, but looking back over the last few years that seems unlikely.

I left my password at home when I came across the Pennines, so I've been watching discussion from the side-lines. A mixed bag on my latest visit to the N Yorkshire coast - some showers yesterday, including 1-2 unexpectedly heavy ones, but a perfect summer's day today with a cooling breeze to prevent it getting too hot. I was sorry I had to leave for home this afternoon.

I recorded 24c at 3pm today, but I suppose there is an altitude difference 😏

It also depends on regular calibration of your equipment 😳😉

Yes, I have done that. I don’t expect to be doing it every week though 🤔

Out on the bike today, 60 miles round the locality, and whilst it was hot it wasn't debilitating. However, I was shocked at the state of the reservoirs I passed, Brownhill, Winscar, Woodhead, Digley, Dowry, Readycon Dean, Scammonden all at best 50% full - if we don't get some meaningful rain over the next 6 weeks water shortages look very likely.

A smidge over 26C here today - a perfect day tbh but much hotter tomorrow of course!

Still have the issue with the ill-placed red warning, but I think they will extend it tomorrow tbh. Stupid that we're 32, 36, 38C Sun-Tue and in the amber. That's close to 3C above our all time record, too 😅

Really surprised to hear rain on the roof light windows last night!

Quite a pleasant morning here in Wakefield. Not really looking forward to the heat, but thankfully we're back to normal by Wednesday. Just going to have to grin and bear Mon and Tues.

It was a really pleasant start to the morning. Alarm went off early, lightly raining, check of the app suggested temps lower for long this morning so turned off the alarm for another 1.5hrs 😌.

Light rain for a few hours has wet the ground on the surface and without any significant heat the wet remained for a while. The forecast suggests cloud cover until later this afternoon but the sun is now breaking through as we speak so think the temp will be on the rise shortly.

Wet, fresh mornings turning into dry hot days into the evenings & then temp drops over night would be the absolute perfect weather for me. If only.

@Paul_1978 our forecast suggests temp not dropping until Wed evening!

Even here close to the coast its already 24.5C. It has taken its time though due to the stubborn cloud. No reason why inland especially wont hit 30-32C if this cloud dissipates. Not too humid either, currently 50%.

It does need to get a move on though.

Well they've got the weather totally wrong here.

Very cloudy in leeds, no sign of ANY blue sky. Temps will fail to reach 30+ under this thick cloud.

Day1-bust.

And thank goodness albeit we've got to make it to the evening with this cloud to avoid any proper heat.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Its completely overcast but already 26.6C here. If the sun does come out it will rise rapidly and its only just after midday so there's several hours yet.
