Hi all,
My reading is 31 C at the moment ..
Phew what a scorcher.
No afternoon walk for the whippet that's for sure !
Hope folks think of their pets .. especially caged ones.
I always provide ground water for wildlife .. hedgehogs etc.
Enjoy it if its to your liking.

Gone above 30c here now, despite it being a little hazy. Be interesting to see how high it gets when we get to early evening.

First day of the year breaching 30 though and at my new location

You must be in the prime position, up there in the lee of the Pennines?

How's your recovery?

Ooo I didn't think anyone would be so much cooler today !

Thanks for asking .. its a bit of a struggle to be honest .. 3 weeks today since my big op.
Some steady healing progress but its often very painful.
I'll get there .
Cheers.

We are fortunate here, an easterly onshore breeze has pegged the temps back to about 21c. Hopefully we will miss the worst of the heatwave. Currently next Monday is looking like 27c but if we get an onshore breeze that will peg it back. Thing is even a mile or two inland temps will be markedly higher.

Sorry to hear about your health issues Beverley Lass

Yes get well soon Beverley Lass

Agree with you about water for wildlife, I've been putting bowls out and making sure I can do what I can for them

Thank goodness for that. I am heading to the NY coast tonight for a few days from a hot and sultry Cheshire and I can do without extreme heat whilst I am with you.

Slightly surprised, they put the whole region, all the way up to Middlesborough in the warning area for Sunday. Even on the most extreme runs, it's not got much past 30C here, as it's always east that gets the most heat.

Was hoping next weekend will be cooler here, but ways it's going that's not looking likely.

21°c at 23.15, it is a warm one this evening for trying to sleep in and the worst could be yet to come! ☀️, no breeze this evening what so ever!

We were fortunate here on shore sea breeze kept up until about 21:00, and so we were a couple of degrees lower and managed to air house out once the sun had gone, feels quite sticky this morning though

Very uncomfortable over night!

But it's nice to hear and see rain this morning. Seems quite organised on the radar, perhaps more so than forecast?

Feels cooler for now sat working next to the patio doors

Well I had no problem sleeping in the heat, last week’s jet setting will do that to you! Asleep by 10pm ??

I hadn’t checked the forecast in the last 48hrs so surprised it had changed to some precipitation today. Just had 12 drops …..but it was lovely to wake up to cloud cover & a genuinely fresh breeze. To feel like you don’t have to have another rushed morning to get up & out with the dogs before the heat gets too much was a relief. Can’t believe I’m moaning about the sun/heat but I think that’s what I like about our weather, it’s always varied. Having wall to wall sun/heat becomes boring & wearing ?

And the rain is still coming down, let’s enjoy it whilst it lasts

Yeah let's enjoy the next few days which look to be just nice and warm, around 20c by day and better overnight temps.

That's perfect for me!

Then it looks to be round 2 of hot weather over the coming weekend and into next week. Some interest at least in records going which would make it worth it for me...

I came through Pickering last night at 9.30pm and the digital temperature display near the roundabout showed 22C. It was probably as warm when I arrived at Whitby sometime after 10pm. Today saw a tiniest bit of rain at 11am and again at 3pm, but not even enough to wet the grass. This evening however is much more bearable and I've been sitting outside until recently. I'm looking forward to the big 'buck moon' tomorrow night which hopefully will be visible with clear skies.

Grey cloudy clag all day and horribly muggy at around 22-23c, but thankfully there was a sniff of a breeze, sun finally broke through briefly about 6pm. Tonight is thankfully slightly cooler than last night, so hopefully i can get a good nights kip

A much more pleasant day today. Sunny, and below 20c with an onshore SE to E breeze keeping it fresher. After yesterdays sticky greyness a welcome change. Not looking forward to the predicted heat early next week, I just hope the onshore breezes rescue us from the worst of it here. Looks like there could be some thundery activity later on Tuesday, but at 6 days out a lot could change.

Ground is now looking very dry, no significant rain here since the Jubilee weekend. Are we officially in a drought yet? This year only February was wetter than average, and May about average, all the other months have been dryer.

Those 35C+ temps for Monday / Tuesday as shown on some models better not happen. We just aren't built for that kind of heat, livestock could well die in the fields.

Yes the heat is looking to be at the dangerous level. Monday and Tuesday. There is a slight hope that the heat may get pushed away quicker on Tuesday although the east will stay in temperatures 36C to 38C possibly slightly higher.

Poor hospitals are going to be busier than ever.

Yep, it is looking a potentially dangerous hot couple of days, so i have decided to book Mon, Tues off work, don't want to be at graft in that kind of potential heat, 🥵

Offices where I work are air con so that's an attraction.
