0.3 mm of rain yesterday, dry all day today so far. If it wasn’t for the wind it would be very pleasant.

Cold front coming soon and then much colder air aloft with convection behind it.

The system has petered out and rain has all but ended here, which will give flooding and river levels a chance to subside quickly.

It is surprising how quickly kevels go down once the rain stops.

Think the Lake District has the fastest rising rivers in England. Isn't the River Kent the fastest rising?

I hope you're right. Another 2009/2010 type winter would be amazing. It's the hope that does for us every time!

We had a similar set up 18-19 Nov 2009 a month later we were locked in the freezer..

I'm not surprised, going by the video clip you posted earlier.  Must be awful for folks there.

Yes - Radar has pepped up sommewhat.

Dry here.

Looking at our own location (Fylde) the Welsh Mountains are soaking up the SW rainflow.

Conditions look awful - a very Nov 2009 setup - think Cumbria had a red warning at some point during that period?  Heavy Rain for all into this evening & overnight into Friday but Cumbria really facing the brunt of this system.

I heard a Classic FM request at lunchtime for a couple who were getting married in Carlisle this afternoon, the wedding having been postponed four times due to the pandemic. Oh dear, they could have picked a better day for their fifth attempt.  I wish them all the best for their future lives together.

After a dry day the heavy rain has finally reached here so it looks like the dog will be walking itself.

300+mm of rain across parts of the lakes but 70 miles away and hardly a drop, another one of those strange set ups which show how varied the weather across our small island can be.

The GFS op run not too bad with a chilly northerly. Feeling seasonal (at last). And a bit of snow for the Peaks and Lakes.

Plenty of bright colours showing across the south west and South Wales but the rain seems to be losing a lot of intensity as it tracks towards our region although it’s still bouncing on the conservatory roof.

At least the worst of the heavy rain has moved south of of Cumbria though.

We got caught out in heavy rain at 10pm last night when walking back to our car, but the rain has now cleared and the sun is attempting to come out. Heaviest rainfall in the 24 hours to 5pm yesterday is given as Seathwaite in Cumbria with 182.8mm, something like 7ins of rain. However suggestions that the overall rainfall amounted to over 300mm, 12ins in 1-2 prone spots such as Honister. No wonder flooding is an issue! ☹️

There is only about 3 miles separating Seathwaite and Honister Pass.. shows what the difference an extra 300m in height makes!

Got caught in that driving between sites at work.

didn’t last long but it’s hard to tell which reduced visibility the most, bouncing rain or blowing leaves.

Some moderate rain early this morning followed by some sunny spells. Temperatures got up to 14.5°C at 11. The Cold front then passed giving some very heavy rain and producing some lightning strikes as it headed off east of me. In typical fashion it was too far away to hear the thunder by that point.

18.8 mm of rain here from this event since Wednesday.
