Had a brief heavy shower about 20 minutes ago which left a bit of wet snow on the cars.

Looks like a decent amount of snow in Flash but at nearly 500m that's hardly surprising is it? Here just cold rain today. More of the same tomorrow by the looks of it.

Not much to report unless wind & rain is your thing, the only thing of interest is the recent latter part of the last few GFS runs with pressure rises toward our North West.

Let's see what the latest provides...

Interesting update for Tuesday on the Met O forecast for the region.

only question is how high are the hills they are talking about.

Turning very windy and wet by lunchtime as Storm Barra arrives, heavy snow fall is expected over hills which may lead to blizzard conditions on high routes. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Driven to Skipton today for lunch and Christmas shopping. Snow on the way there and snow on way back between Burnley and Bacup at Deerplay moor and to top it all thunder at home and a heavy hail shower while dog walking just now. It’s very cold out there!!

I’m on holiday this week but thanks to the weather, the furthest I’ve been today is the bin.

Some horrible although potentially interesting weather tomorrow but it’s bin day so I’ll have to go as far as the top of the drive but I don’t think I’ll be driving over the tops to either Burnley or Todmorden.

Looks like those above around 300m could see a few centimetres of snow tomorrow, but will likely be turning back to rain later on in the day even at that elevation. Lovely cold rain for here. Blizzards certainly on the cards for higher parts of the region. Trans Pennine routes likely to become highly hazardous and no go routes for a period of time.

Shame tomorrow’s snow ❄️  will only be a high ground affair now as however transient it would have provided some real wintry interest what with heavy wet snow & blizzard conditions rather than the cold, wet ☔️ & windy day in prospect for many tomorrow as Storm Barra arrives.

Remaining on the cold & unsettled side through to Friday. Turning milder perhaps at the weekend but for how long? Xmas period into late month may well begin to provide some interest - reminds me a bit like Dec 2012 that flipped ‘properly’ cold into the New Year the UK is in the game for proper cold this Winter more so than the NE USA/ Canada are but we may well as per usual have to play the long game for it.
