A cold rain day. Current temp 3.8 degrees. Looks like snowline is 400m. A dark day as well.. one of those that never gets light. Going dark now at 3.50pm!

My least favourite type of days in winter; cold rain......ugh! A few degrees colder and it wouldn't seem as bad, providing it was snow.....

I didn’t realise that there’d been so much rain until I walked down to Morrison’s and saw drains overflowing and water pouring down the main road and starting to flood in the town centre.

fortunately it’s been fine for the last hour so the level has fallen again but it’s certainly been a wet day.

More reasons to shop at Morrisons. Sometimes every little doesn't help.

Absolutely massive sleet and graupel shower just gone through depositing a fair amount of graupel on the ground

Only went for shaving foam but ended up with mulled wine, cheese, crisps and plenty more more unhealthy stuff

been easier to just grow a beard

What a vile day although there’s hopefully signs of a bit of a clearance reaching here shortly.

hope so as I need to nip to the supermarket and I don’t even fancy the trip to and from the car in this weather.

If it’s Morrisons take your wellies as the car park will be under water!!

If only it was, getting absolutely battered here, hail in the mix too.

That would be some snow streamer. Must have had close to 1.5 " rain today. Now was it 1mm of rain equaled 10mm snow (Roughly)?

Peak gust of 55mph in Buxton just past 1pm, I forgot about the FA Cup match on the BBC but it wouldn't have been too pleasant as a spectator at Silverlands today.

Not half mate, always the way. I can hear the hail lashing the window in the heavier bursts.

Anyways realistically 99.99% of the time, the best chance of snow here is between Boxing Day and Mid-March anything else is a real bonus. Mind you the last few years it's a bonus no matter what time of year it is.

What's it like by you today, any wet snow?

Completely wild evening torrential rain/hail lashing the window right now. Surprised no MO warnings for today. MO asleep at the wheel once more it seems when it comes to NW weather

Models seemed to have moved away from the idea of snow for lower levels on Monday morning. We'll see as we still have about 36 hours until this is more resolved. Still looking good if you are say 200m+.

Yeah and it would have probably plastered Yorkshire and the Midlands instead and found a way to leave us in a rain shadow

Its had a hint of sleetyness but a lot of rain. Trailer top is full of water about 8 " deep. The top is 5ft x 3.5 ft. I only emptied (syphoned) it yesterday

Had 41 mm of rain today and that’s probably under sampled because weather station doesn’t deal well with hail. I was disappointed I missed the thunder as was in a car before.

Must have been a huge cumulonimbus as some of that hail was torrential.

Vicious Squall through Wirral - Merseyside on Radar -  No METO warnings at all for today I think they missed that one   - it's been wild here.

12z GFS looks a bit of a downgrade for ppn except for altitude.

Time yet.
