It's within the semi reliable time frame though...?

Very rare do we get snow to low levels from front coming from the West. It’s just not cold enough. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Evaporative cooling is the key. Temps above 925 MB remain below 0; dp near 0; wetbulb iso0 near surface; Wind offshore; heavy precip. all conducive for Evaporative cooling to bring freezing level down to surface.

still 60 hours away though so a bit too early yet to call.

Plenty of potential in the short to medium term and with temps remaining on the cool side, doesn't take much to shift things in favour of snow to lower levels. I'd much rather be in this setup than spending day after day stuck at 12/13C in a 'mild' damp flow all the way up from the Azores.

Monday/Tuesday if the latest charts verify could well deliver quite a bit of snow to the regions higher ground (10cm+) heavy sleet/wet snow potential at times almost anywhere though. As always with NW snowfall I will believe it when I see it!  ❄️

The kind of setup today that would deliver appreciable falls off snow had it been cold enough aka 2010/11.  North westerly shower one after the other with some streamers setting up...sadly just lots of cold rain today for most of us.

6ºC here this morning; dark & gloomy

It's like we had a mini-storm overnight; high winds and lashing rain with heavy hail showers in between

Thinking the same.

It’s peeeeeing down here but a couple of degrees colder and more favourable uppers and we’d have been looking at falling and settling snow.

looks like a classic day of if only.

Sleety mix in the heavy showers crossing here at the moment.

Yep in the heaviest of the showers there are a few bits of icy sleet mixed in within the icy rain, but very bleak and yet south of Stoke-on-Trent and Nottingham it's dry.  We cop it with a Northwesterly.  A few nasty crashes on the motorways esp. M60 Jnt. 23 Ashton....

The motorway is currently blocked at Junction 23 for Ashton-under-Lyne

Pretty much all snow now but very wet and struggling to stick apart from on the cars.

probably a different story on the tops though.

Not the nicest of days; grey, windy, and regular (cold) precipitation - might leave that bike ride until tomorrow......

Huge flakes now and easily covering.

some brighter skies showing though so probably coming to the end of it.

Yes probably only showing sleet/wet snow in the heaviest of the showers... quite gusty too.  Glad to not be working today.  Sadly I think it's going to be wet snow/sleet based at best for most of next week,  certainly nothing to match the wintry settling we got last Sunday.

A few flakes in coming down here too a few hundred feet lower. Temp hovering just above 2c.
