Mental 10 minutes. Pots and garden furniture everywhere.

Power has gone and we have a huge double rainbow.

Yep. That short period was some of the roughest I've seen here for a long time! It went nuts.

Noted Isle of Portland with a 78mph gust!

Now showing a gust of 87mph at 9am! Quite incredible.

Further along the coast in Brighton  our strongest gusts for several months at 64mph.

Wow!

You can see in the radar images the circulation crossing the Dorset coast. It will be interesting to see further analysis of this.

When it comes to gales it nearly always the unexpected events that are the most interesting down here.

Quite the deluge first thing safely bringing October’s total to the highest of the year, now beating May.

Interesting feature down south. Did another low form within the flow perhaps?

Just been in the garden to inspect any damage - thankfully none - apart from a lot of leaves. It surprised me to be honest. The wind seemed very low level and everything was moving in all directions. I must've done a good job putting up my fence 18 months ago.

A rather violent and interesting morning!

Some local flooding this morning Canfrod Heath Rd has about 6-7inches of water cover the whole rd, bins blown over as it gusted 40mph around 8am, lots of things moved in the garden due to the gusts,..

Meanwhile before the showers arrive, it looking good, so garden time for a while..

Beachcam shows a fair amount of white water even now..

Well I can quite believe those wind speeds. Far stronger than I'd expected in the Solent, lots of large branches down locally, even a brick wall (though made me doubt its construction quality!)

Some images on the Bournemouth Echo website. Some pretty big tree damage in places. Luckily It looks like no one has been hurt

Must agree, and this is not a M.O bash by any means, however, their warning on Friday seemed to unusually go out of its way to say winds were not going to be an issue with todays system, more the hour or  two of rain.( 3 or 4 hours of rain eventually)

Unfirtunately, being quite so specific for once  on both those issues has proved a little over confident!

That feature just missed here as it headed NE but it still got very windy for a time earlier.

Mostly sunny now having missed all the showers that followed the earlier rain but still quite windy. 14.4°C
