Very windy sleety afternoon at 3c.  Cows and calves didn"t need to be called twice  to come in at lunchtime with the old"uns leading the way.

Funnily enough I got a social media reminder the other day of a trace of snow when I lived in Crail on Nov 25th. Must have been 2010. But very unusual haven’t had an air frost yet!

And funnily enough when we had sleet here my daughter said that there was snow in the air in Broughty Ferry. Very unusual. Assume a slightly colder wedge of air further East.

It's dreich, it's dark & my letterbox is going like the clappers. Don't think I have ever seen a red warning for Stoney for anything (wish it was for snaw) tempted to superglue the letterbox down, but just found some bluetac lol. Probably the less messy option.

As reported schools closed early, authority decision so all across Aberdeenshire I heard. I did wonder when thed Red warning went out, but they then took thier time deciding. Around 1:45 the bell rang 3 times which is our signal to check our email for an urgent message. To summarise... "pack up, get out, go home, NOW“... that was a first, normally you get a bit of advance notice. 

Drive home was very blustery but the precipitation was more liquid than solid. Not much debris on the road but a tree partially down just near the entrance to Haughton Park in Alford, passable when I got there. Roads going up the hill and our driveway were moderately deep slush. 

Wild now with heavy showers of sleet and wet snow and very strong winds. Wood burner is lit, wood baskets stocked up, buckets are filled in case the power goes out and we need to 'flush' the loos. We're all set to ride it out.

Power off for second time, just 20mins but kids already suffering internet withdrawal symptoms.  Ah the luxury of mobile data .  Very stormy now, going to be a fraught evening if the power stays off.  Still rain and now up to 3c.

Power flickering on and off.  I would imagine only matter of time before it goes off.  Raining heavily now as well.  Too early for a drink ???

Flickery lights here but power staying on for now. God help us if it goes off, I may prefer to go out in the storm than listen to my 14yr old complain. 

Edit @GogosloUnder these circumstances, of course not. I might grab a beer myself, after all if the fridge goes off the beer might start warming up.

Surprisingly nice through here this afternoon bitterly cold now but dry with little wind. I dare say it will be picking up later although it was pretty windy overnight then calm all day.

Satellite dish must be moving around as the Feesat signal keeps dropping. Never had that in this house before, which shows the unusual wind direction.

Wind picking up in Tweeddale and we are only on the edge of the amber/yellow wind warning being directly 30 miles due south below EDI airport together with flakes in the wind but nothing much at all yet ppn wise.

blowing a hoolie in dundee, at the performance centre and feels like roof about to blow off with constant battering sleet aswell. quite big flakes on kingsway coming through Dundee.

I remember that, before the lighthouse was automated, the keepers at St.Abbs Head produced weather observations.  Would be interested to know what it's like there now.  Perhaps the lighthouse board have their own wind equipment there now?

98.2 mph gust now recorded at Gardenstown. 

93.9 mph recorded at Portsoy a little further west on the coast
