This provided a very nice break from the norm the other day, was very foggy for most of my drive and then clear blue skies afterwards, but any ideas where this might be west midlanders?

Hmm I wanna say somewhere in Shropshire, doesn't look hilly so don't think it's the Peak Disitrict

Cold in the north. Milder in the south. Significant weather with snow at times near the boundary in the middle. I wonder which region may be most prone to that

Snow risk further south around the central Midlands for Christmas Day from the latest GFS.

Snow storm for the entire region on Boxing Day.

Plenty to play for!

I've never been so inclined to use this as a calm source of updates for the weekend as opposed as the carnage in the MOD thread! Was reminiscing over some of our best snowfalls in the region (Feb 2007), and i know we're nearly 15 years further down the line with modelling technology, but did crack me up how that event looked like an absolute no hoper and in the end we got 2 significant snowfalls over a few days! Maybe i was a bit brash earlier, still plenty up for grabs.

It’s funny. I look at these charts for snow across the Midlands and I’m pleased even though I’m not going to be there Fully in acceptance of London’s rubbish winter climate!

Boxing day looks amazing on GFS 12Z, chances of a white Xmas though ticking away, looks like if it turns to snow, will be after 6pm or so for low levels

High RES UKV

12z UKV also showing a precip band, which has the potential to be wintry, GFSUKMO, GEM also showing something similar, could all be wrong however!

Tbf mate looking at that, it will just miss Stoke / South Cheshire anyway. Poss South Staffs Southwards.

I'm not too stressed as Christmas is a busy time for a Cabbie and I love working Christmas day, so would prefer Snow the week after anyway.p

This probably will come down to that for some in here. Imo the models wont settle on how far south the colder air gets and where any possible precip meets it will be until about +24 and even then you often see the reality be 20/30 miles out

A number of years ago I was a private driver myself, so I’m with ya

Many a year ago though, got out of it before drivers was everywhere and the operators didn’t give a sh#t

The northern and southern extent of any snow will change up until the last minute. I’ve seen models showing snow missing Stoke several times the past few winters only for Stoke to get snow.

Looking increasingly likely that the Midlands may be the place to be for snow over the Christmas period if not Christmas Day itself. Certainly in the game, anyway!

Hmmm the ensembles and 18Z massively backing away from a midlands snow event now over the weekend i have to say, i just sense this low may clip the south coast and maybe a few parts inland. Not a good way of finishing the day BUT, still 72 hours to go and a lot can change!
