Lovely day at Exmouth beach today . 24-25 , LOvely breeze,  water warm for a paddle, loads of families swimming great day .

Back home , beautiful evening , the warmth has brought my sweet peas out in their fragrant glory .

All in all a good day .

I hope Autumn is as beautiful as its my favourite season .

Awesome conditions in Cornwall so far since Friday afternoon.

Not a single cloud, unbroken sunshine by day and moonlight by night, a refreshing breeze and temperatures varying between 20c-24c depending on location.

No sign it's going to change either in the next few days.

Great conditions for the peak of the Perseid meteor shower later this week.

Does make you wonder quite where they are at, with all that sooper compute power.

Haha yeah it used to be good, but something changed a few months ago and now it always under-predicts Exeter's temperatures in sunny summer conditions.

This set up actually looks more favourable for some of us. It wouldn't surprise me if I recorded a higher temp next weekend than what I did during the last hot spell.

I've been thinking the same, I only got 30.7C then, and agree some areas near the south coast (including my area and Exeter) may see higher temps this time, as well as this spell lasting longer.

Morning All, eyes down look in, ready for the ride? After the overnight low back in double digits of 11.4°C at: 06:37, currently 25.2°C, RH53% and light air movement from the N.

Both look almost a repeat from yesterday

@*Stormforce~beka* I have found a way you can water you garden. In the Southern Water  ’Temporary Use Ban’ (TUB), there's nothing about using a hose to wash domestic pets. So strategically place your chickens in the flower beds and wash them. If you know somebody with a dog or even a horse you could borrow those to water a larger area.

QUOTE:

Sometimes known as ‘hosepipe bans’, a TUB means we all have a responsibility to save water and customers in the affected areas must not use water for anything covered under the TUB. This includes the following activities:

  • Watering a garden using a hosepipe
  • Cleaning a private motor-vehicle using a hosepipe
  • Watering plants on domestic or other non-commercial premises using a hosepipe
  • Cleaning a private leisure boat using a hosepipe
  • Filling or maintaining a domestic swimming or paddling pool
  • Drawing water, using a hosepipe, for domestic recreational use
  • Filling or maintaining a domestic pond using a hosepipe
  • Filling or maintaining an ornamental fountain
  • Cleaning walls, or windows, of domestic premises using a hosepipe;
  • Cleaning paths or patios using a hosepipe
  • Cleaning other artificial outdoor surfaces using a hosepipe.

Hahah wash the chickens in the veggie patch! Love it! I can't even walk past them with the hose without them running away lol. I washed the patio down with it last night as it had their poo on it so comes under health and safety. Otherwise i've been emptying the paddling pool with the watering can for the veggie patch.

Bathwater is another option - that's what we are using currently for the garden.

The plants have all gone horizontal though. I think it's the relaxing effects of the Radox.

28.7c here! A nice hot one! Shame we can't use the paddling pool 😞 Sad times!

Interesting how this shakes out. Basingstoke for example is under South East water who have not applied restrictions to customers in Hampshire and Berkshire!

Also note the South East water wording...

Whilst the Temporary Use Ban is in place, you must not:

Water a garden using a hosepipe

A “garden” is a private or public garden, a lawn, a park; a grass verge; an area of grass used for sport or recreation; an allotment used for non-commercial purposes; and any other green space.

A garden is not:

agricultural land,

land used in the course of a business for growing any crops, fruits, vegetables or other plants for sale or commercial use;

land used for National Plant Collection;

a temporary garden or flower display (i.e. on show to the public for no more than 7 days); or

Plants in an outdoor pot or in the ground under cover (under cover being in a greenhouse, outbuilding or under a permanent canopy).

Hi all, I think it's going to be all eyes on our region this week, particularly nearer the weekend as we go well into the 90Fs.

I think we can declare this heatwave "open" already - it's absolutely baking here and I can't imagine it's far from 30C right now. Surely somewhere will sneak a 30C today in our region?

Looking around Charlwood northwest of London Gatwick Airport managed 29.8°C, that seems to be the peak currently with Yeovil at 28.7 °C......OH but wait @*Stormforce~beka* in WINCHESTER with our local supporter registering 29.9 °C, a gnats whatsit away from the 30°C. Should we demand a recount?

May not hit 30 at all here now. Latest updates have shaved 3° off of the max.

I guess this could be to do with a subtle change in wind direction modelled (ene to ese), or a stronger sea breeze?

I think it's going to be a rinse/repeat week for weather, with the temp obviously climbing as the high pressure shifts eastward.

Could be another 7 days of this, according to the weather charts.

Made it to 29.8°C not long ago, whilst the wind direction moved towards the NE. The wind switched back ESE/SE and the temp dropped.
