Some parts of Sheffield undergoing a 2hr heavy rain dumping right now according to the radar....wonder if there are flash flooding issues over the Pennines.

Woodhead looks like it’s getting dumped on…

looking at radar it’s developing overhead… quite heavy rain now… was 22c earlier and felt hot in sunshine ☀️

So near, yet so far.  I'll try and convince myself that sometimes it's better looking at Thunderstorm clouds from a short distance away, than being sat right under one.  Purely from a visual perspective.

A nice end to the day as I await these thundery showers/storms that are supposed to be popping up soon.

Yes absolutely stunning sunset tonight Rush. Best for a while I'd say.

Looks like they are popping. Torrential rain in Maccleafield now out of nowhere.

It looks to be back building as it moves (east?) On radar… seems to redevelop overhead… hills around here hopefully filling reservoirs… they’ve had really torrential rain…

Watching the radar has been eye opening tonight it’s certainly building back west

Biblical rain here for the past 30 minutes which is something we haven't seen in this part of the NW for a while, no lightning yet but at least the garden is watered.

7 years ago today, first thunder of 2015 that I heard. Looks sometime before I hear the first thunder of 2022

Quite hopeful the second half of this month may be thundery Kev.

I was struggling to see a way out of Azores HP domination before August but there are tentative signs that we’ll see a pattern change towards the middle of the month.

Morning all from Birmingham National Express coach station.

My stepson is getting a coach to Luton Airport so I drove him down.

Weather is cloudy but has that look of a thundery structure.  Dry though for time being.  Can't say I liked driving through Brum.

An overcast, but dry start here with just a gentle breeze. Still awaiting the first thunder of the year here too and there doesn't look to be much potential in the short to medium term either.

A bone dry day here today. What a let down.

Strange! We had a short-lived but heavy downpour as we went to Nantwich at 7.30pm last night. But such is the nature of showers I suppose!

Not much happening this morning, dry and cloudy and not as humid as yesterday morning. Thundery activity seems to be focused further east today. There, we'll probably be visited by the biggest of all storms before the day is out!

I'm not sure whether you've seen the new layout for the BBC News at 6pm and 10pm. Full frontal for the weather forecaster now rather than being cut off at the waist. Confirms how tall Chris F is, and those brown shoes....! Yuk!

Crewe nearly always miss rain systems, where as here dosen't, think if you like rain, you need to move to Stafford area, very wet and rarely escapes, big difference to Crewe

luckily though same in Winter! Stafford normally gets decent snow from southerly systems, where as Crewe stays dry

Spent yesterday evening at West Kirby. All the time we were there, there was a big black cloud over Wales across the Dee estuary, but it never came any closer. Radar showed moderate rain from it, not really moving, some places must have got a great soaking.

As the sun dropped it got quite pretty.

..and now we are back to a westerly bingo!...the showers (less threatening & not thundery) will line themselves up one after the other here.  Getting one now.

Next week looks a bit, meh! Dry, but overcast and with that wind it will feel a bit chilly.

Just driven home in some of the heaviest rain I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen some pretty heavy stuff in the Caribbean.

thankfully it was short lived but kerb to kerb water running down the main road through the valley.

Yes all to do with the positioning of the high, as of now it looks like dragging in NW winds and cloud, as usual far better in SE England. If it was further north we'd see a gradual build up of home grown heat up here too. Could still end up in that scenario further down the road as we're not in the reliable. As for today a heavy shower earlier got caught out in it whilst doing some errands in Oldham town centre.
