*hears the winds blow* Kent clipper there I said it ?

We have a strong wind from the northeast, and low cloud blowing in with it, but above it still looks ripe, but it has done most of the day.

Storms are a brewing

Jam cam is back again, let's see if anything arrives or it'll just be a case of muffled wind for 5 hours.

I'd hate to state the obvious, but the reason there are so many storms in the South East is because we're closer to the warmth continental Europe can produce.
When it comes to snow, it sucks here, but I stayed in the south because the summers are better down here.  Best storms are in the Midlands, East Anglia and the South. Elsewhere you're not going to see as many.

Classic copy and paste job yet AGAIN. South Coast, Essex and Kent get the fun tonight for about the 8th or 9th time already this year.

I don't think so, we've busted and the SW has been getting it.

Currently enduring post COVID foggy brain and therefore my ability to get my head around meteorological nuances today is somewhat limited. So. I will rely on those more knowledgeable tonight: OH has offered to drive me to the coast if there is a chance of seeing some light shows - so what do you guys and gals think? We'd be heading down Solent way. Is it worth a chance?

Only in the uk,

Model uncertainty up to the last, cold front battling it out with a Low moving up from the continent.

Battle of airmasses, extreme heat versus cold.

Temperatures of 27c down to 17c within hours.

The excitement at what could happen.

The result looks like being a decaying mass of crud once more! ( with the exception of the far SW today)

I would love to be wrong on this, still time I guess.

Had some nice deep rumbles earlier

I can hear the slightest of distant booms. An agonising near miss for me tonight!

Could be borderline around the solent but worthing eastwards along the Sussex coast could be a good shout.

Excellent. I'm not too bothered about getting a direct hit in Worthing, so long as there's action within a 15 to 20 mile radius.

Heading to the beach shortly!

Just arrived in Brighton.

The radio 5 live a.m signal on the radio crackling in an 'old skool' sign of lightning nearby.

Back In the day with Dad it was a sign of a good evening and night if we picked the streterferics up on radio 4 as we listen to the shipping forecast!

Radar check confirms the radio crackles!

Darkness decends so may head onto the Downs and look seaward

New sferics in both N. London and Chichester areas. These two storms were born at pretty much exactly the same time!

Amazing ! No precip on radar in north london but suprisingly an active storm. This stuff is extremely elevated and I am crossing my fingers for later !

Yes. And as @Southern Storm mentioned it seems to coincide with when the wind rapidly increased

Certainly had more rain from this front than was forecasted on pretty much every site  I looked, we’ve had an inch/25mm so far …my new big water butt is nearly full, might need to purchase a 2nd and connector hose.

No thunderstorms though,  just heavy rain at times, torrential just skim us in Exeter as it passed through mid Devon as per usual, Dartmoor seems to take out some energy before it gets to Exeter when it comes in from the west.

Happy the garden finally had a good water from rain. The grass all around Exeter is yellow from how dry it’s been for several months bar a few instances.

Plenty of time for thunderstorms this summer ⛈
