Well, it's an afternoon of 19c and ongoing drizzle. Beautiful stuff folks, just beautiful

Reading all the above makes me feel lucky to be in my area where we had a good day yesterday, and three decent sunny days in a row a week ago, even if they were breezy and below average temperatures.
Ghastly here today and my cold has gone into full bloom so I’m hankering down.

57 years ago today, a momentous event took place in London as England won the football World Cup for the first and only time. The tournament took place between 11th and 30th July 1966 and the weather was mediocre throughout, bar 23rd July when the infamous England v Argentina game was played at Wembley in blazing sunshine. A parallel could be perhaps be drawn with the weather in July 2023, and if so, take heart, my family went on holiday to the South Coast in mid-August for 2 weeks and the weather was perfect throughout. I don't think we've yet seen the last of summer 2023!

I'm hunkering for a good sunny spell, personally 😉

Even by our rain sodden west of Scotland standards, this summer has been really poor. Was nice during June, but even then we had our moments of heavy rain (you might remember the Scotland match at Hampden had to be delayed due to a downpour). Struggling to think of a poorer summer, and there’s a fair amount of competition!

Could do with a warm spell over the bank holiday period before autumn starts.

Indeed, lots of plans coming up, birthdays, golf events, parties, air shows. Weather needs to improve to at least decent.

Yet another Ashes day falls victim to this rubbish weather.

Feel as though could be a draw now! although dry in London tomorrow, where as our locations will be lucky to stay dry all day

Looks like we will all be getting plenty of rain over the next several weeks according to latest Met Office extended. I think it's looking like summer 2023 is now a busted flush.

I think some folk on here are hopecasting that summer is going to return in the next ten days, so going against the met office thoughts then.....pah what do they know!😂

Think @Wimbledon88that they aren't certain of more settled as there needs to be more evidence of that it is going to be more settled.

Increasing and consistent support for changes towards the end of week two in August at least.

Beginning to get a rather edgy about our North Wales holiday now! I had given it a chance to change before thinking negatively!

Right now I would snap anyone’s hand off for even 3 mostly dry & bright/breezy days from 4th-11th August!

I think they are simply commenting on what the models are currently showing, don't shoot the messanger! 👍

I do admit that our forecast for early August looks better than the UK. Then again, while I know it wont make up for a poor July and early August, I envy that you guys can still get proper hot weather in late August or early September and have mild temperatures even in October. Here in Estonia it usually starts cooling down mid to late August (with a few exceptions, last year's August was hot all the way until the end of the month and in 2018 the first week of September was also very summery), when the jetstream gets more active and those arctic lows start reaching us here at 59N. September is usually full autumn already and in mid/late October we usually get frost and the first snowfall of the season. But who knows... this year the jetstream has been messed up all summer, so maybe we will also get some record breaking warmth in late autumn.

I envy that you get snow. 😁

Hard to come by over here. Even a frost is hard to come by in some years.
