AROME for this evening showing just how much energy is possible for me in the SE. Just no real trigger on any of the models.

Yep, nothing in the far SE to trigger anything it seems.

And just as the storm arrived, we had a massive power cut!

What's a massive power cut? Lol? Yes been thundering lighting on and off for 5 hours now in Stevenage couple of big strikes. Maybe we heard the one that put your lights out. Just came home from a friend's and it started again

This storm is nuts, not constant lightning like some other storms we've had this year, but more the quality of lightning, fork and bright orange with gun shot thunder.

Did anyone see the wavey looking lines between clouds at about 4:30-5pm today about 15 minutes before the storms arrived. those lines were very fine and plentyful. I didnt have my phone to take pics at the time.

Never seen anything like it. Cloud all around so no blue sky but fine wavy lines amoungst the cloud.

Yes I noticed it, very odd was like high haze, but under the elevated storms.

Nope

Noticed near Peterborough is getting some, falls in well with the warning earlier, just a tad too far here for anything I think

Something happening Biggin Hill way, these aircraft are holding and then changing it's pattern very quickly.

Must be explosive development.

Biggest crack of thunder since June here and a huge flash didn’t see it as thought it was over, again lol. Been on and off now for a good few hours few strikes, so close 30 seconds of rain now still again.

I don’t know much about the weather but it seems it’s a playground above us

Big explosion in Oxfordshire, some are saying it was after a lightning strike.

Saw an awesome strike in that direction about an hour ago.

There are reports of an explosion in Oxford after a lightning strike was reportedly seen across the city and from the A34.

Some thinking it’s struck a green gas facility

Still only speculation though reports a huge gas storage tank has blown up
