Snow has finally stopped within the last half hour. Another 1.5 inches at a guess. If it freezes tonight it's going to be great fun.

It's all down to looking outside at the moment as things are changing without the usual prior indication or forecast. :D

V. Light sleet/wet snow here for the past hour. 0.3c. If there was only a little bit more intensity in this precipitation then it would snow and settle but there's just nothing in it. Very cold northerly wind, feels like -6c.

Looks like the low in the south (nr Guernsey) paused a while... took a breath and has moved NE again picking up some on the way.... maybe more of the white stuff to come for those SW of London ?

Been snowing and sleeting on and off here all day in Welwyn... intensifying snow, with breeze from the east as i type :D

Well got to 7.5c at midday clouded over since then and breeze now picking up and temp down to 4.3c. dark and dismal...... hope its snows but not holding my breathe.....

Here (Tunbridge Wells) it got to 6.0c and is now down at 3.1c, but misty, miserable and just a bit damp.

The main band of precipitation coming up through Hampshire/Surrey is actually moving away from us at the moment in a NNW direction.

Our hope is that is will pep up a bit, pivot and slowly move SE, being undercut as it moves away. Not much to ask for!

It's obvious from the TV forecasts that they are struggling big time, so its down to other observations, radar and infra-red satellite to do the "nowcast".

I still have hopes of a bit of snow..........but proably only about 25% confidence at the moment.

After a few hours of light snow flurries, we now have some big fat flakes cascading down.

BBC forecasting -2C to -5C in Urban areas tonight and -7C to -10C in rural areas. Then went on to say 'COLDER' tomorrow night :shok:

(Very little thawing this weekend then).

Seasons

That might explain my unheated greenhouse thermometer reading 'Min –6° C' for last night or the night before, I didn't believe it.

Snowing merrily again here after an hour of sleet. Made my husband laugh when I said "ok dogs, we're setting of for our walk across the Suffolk tundra again" :D

So my boss just checked her e-mails from this morning and there was one from someone in Colchester saying that they couldn't come in today because it was snowing heavily there?!?

Are they having a chuckle??

'S far as I know there was no snow - Still isn't!

I don't think we are going to gert anything now . looks like precipitation dying . Met office warnings dropping currently only 2-5cm now for my part.

Oh well there you go . appaling met office performance from yesterdays warning of an extreme event less than 24 hrs ago down here.
