What's preventing these forming further north? At this rate they're all gonna miss us. Can't hear thunder anymore but can see a few distant towers to the east.

Fromey/Chapmanslade, if you're online I think our luck is in : it's now turned very black over Warminster & the latest NW radar shows new cells popping up & heading WNW towards BA12/BA13. They're not thundery yet but the rain rates have increased quickly in the last 15 minutes.

Really, to everyone wondering if it maybe game over, the trough is over Somerset/Wiltshire & things are firing rapidly so as it drifts North development should go with it!

I'm up & downstairs & in & outside & looking skywards like a yoyo  !

Not sure why they are not forming further North But I guess they will as the night goes on?

Looks like a few more are starting to build quickly.

On the loop you can clearly see the direction and speed of the development.

Then one breaks out just west of you over the Bristol Channel!

Seriously how could anyone think it is game over, the game has barely begun. Look at the models, watch/read the forecasts for tomorrow. The night will come alive for the SW.

yes no way its over.its just begun.........as the night wears on things should increase from the South.....just words from the BBC guy

So, Kaddy Lee-Preston on BBC South East today's weather spent quite a bit of time explaining about thunderstorms in the SE tomorrow - almost from first thing in the morning (apparently!). The further East you go, she explained, it tends to be less likely, but I suspect she's just be catching up with the posts in here tonight!!! (evening Kaddy BTW  ).

Good luck for everyone over the next 24-48 hours, I'm taking the camera to work just in case.

Yeah, good chance this evening, later tonight and tomorrow, you have a good shot at seeing one some time.
