Well Dave, looks like you were right, cells are firing in the SW and a good few sferics have been detected. Thought there might be the odd thundery shower but there is quite a few now exploding from nowhere!

Skew T suggested these temps would deliver and looks like they have, hopefully it will get a bit more widespread.

Although some places will remain dry, scattered thunderstorms spreading northwestwards this evening will bring localised torrential downpours perhaps accompanied by hail. 20mm may fall in 3 hours very locally.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to 'Traffic Wales'' for further advice on road conditions.

Issued at: 1734 Thu 25 Jun

Come on bring it on, give us large hail please !

those of you with access to NW radar and able to put the upper winds on the chart-look at the 850 and 700mb trough on which the major area of echoes with TS indicted shows. This is a large part of the 'trigger' at the moment. The 500mb flow shows less of a trough but its still there. remember the skew-t plot from 00z I showed, all helping to get that going-not had chance to look at the 12z outputs but I suspect they will show the same, possibly even more.

quick look at the 12z's and they all show at least as much prob of tops into the Trop

that is with afternoon temps and dewpoints of 12C upwards, in many cases over France, well above that figure of 12C and also parts of southern England.

Just heard a rumble of thunder to my south from some very dark sky, the lovely low growling noise. I have a horrible feeling though that it is moving in the wrong direction :( .

Good views on both, especially the second link. :(
