Have a drive up here - proper snow & settling everywhere now (pavements/roads etc), snow quite moderate. Just going for a drive up the Lickeys (294m asl highest point) to check that out. Will report back.

To me, it is looking very promising for places further north and west of here. Not much precip coming in from the south now with the heaviest to the north, so decent snowcover is looking far more likely there.

Snow here has intensified and it freezing up the ground. If this was to continue for another couple of hours, I would expect the slightest of coverings. Though as I said, precip is running out for here, so all to play for further north and west.

im in stoke and no snow its just rain mate

I think this has been an altitude event and the alarm bells were ringing when temps had risen so much this morning ahead of the PPN. A super call - from last nights 12z onwards - from the GFS both in terms of temps and northward position of the PPN.

1.9C and more sleet here ! dry.gif

Have to agree with you there. Awoke to temperatures of 2.8C miles ahead of the PPN band. From then onwards I wasn't expecting anything. No non-event here as it never seemed at all likely.

Settling on all surfaces and it's getting heavier, my pessimism is paying off :whistling:

Have to agree with that to some extent. The GFS ppn charts have been spot on with the position of the rain, maybe a bit low on the projected low temps but there still is plenty of time this evening for the temps to come down. 3.8 here just after dinner, fell to 2.1 then back to 3 but now going back down again. :whistling:

Snowing now in Wolverhampton, has been for last 20mins or so, temp now down to 1.4, starting to settle on cars and grass a little. The snow is of the 'wet' type though and it will need to continue for a good few hours yet and get heavier to be of any significance. We shall see.

Nice to see the snow but i cant see it lasting much longer here now as the front continues to move instead of stall.

Temperature is dropping like a fat man. Snow getting heavier, flakes getting bigger and the lawn is getting whiter. Now, bring on the 10cm...

Oh Ye (and many others) of little faith:whistling:

Sleet now on the verge of wet snow in Coventry (80m asl). temp down to 1.6c.

Wish the front would stop moving north though otherwise it will be more reserved for Leicester and Notts and Derby!

Oakham near leicester (just east) has reports of heavy snow on the Meto website under recent and latest (???) anyone near there to verify that? that would make the snow line really far east!
