is this band in the midlands going to hit Norwich???

At the moment, the ppn band is moving in your direction. I have this feeling that this band of ppn is going to really intensify as it continues to move E/SE.

Thanks. My disappointment stems from thinking from the comments (a few days ago in the main models) that the snow would hit us Monday / Tuesday - I've obviously got things muddled.

You're right in that nearly everyone seems to be saying it will come at some point

The Met Office Regional forecast suggests snow risk starting today all through next week. So whilst greater risk as week goes on, expect the unexpected. It's just how these things happen.

Temps here in the Medway Valley are as in my sig.

Smallest of snow smattering in earliest hours, could even count individual flakes on garden bench!

Starting to cloud up now. but they don't look to have any potential at all.

Some people in the northern part of this region are going to get some rather interesting and unexpected snow in the next few hours!

Yep thats the Chesire gap streamer, in a more pure NW airflow London can even get snow showers...this one is being helped strongly by the way the air is rather unstable anyway so the showers are being sustained.

Yes, the radar shows no sign of it dying out. Bigger snow flakes starting to arrive now and it's getting heavier. There's some heavy stuff just north of Leicester that's heading for me. The heavy band just going through Nottingham is heading for Peterborough. Look out, TEITS!!

That Midlands band should reach East Sussex and Kent by tonight. Could give 2 or 3 cm even in low lying areas by Sunday morning!

looking at some of the pictures on twitter it does look as so it can bring a cm or more of snow to the northern part of our region.

great for seeing where the snow is in real time http://uksnow.benmarsh.co.uk/

looks like those in the SW of the region will miss out unless it sinks further south

I think thats going to hit fairly widely across the region to be honest Kold,

Looking on the radar its certainly heading my way. It is heading sort of ESE, but the whole band is transferring southward at the same time

Very surprise snowfall if it makes it this far down....only dissapointing thing with temps just above freezing is im not sure we will see much of it accumulating

I certainly think the northern part will get hit by some snow SK (well hopefully snow...)

As soon as the trough further north starts to come south then the streamer will probably shut down as the winds become less favourable, however before then it could well reach a good chunk of EA, places further south then N.Essex will struggle however IMO.

Hi Kold, do you think the showers coming from the North West Streamer will move over Suffolk?

Im inclined to agree there, although hopefully given the surprise to see it here at all there may be a few more surprises in the form of a different track as it comes across EA

The 850hPa wind vectors certainly suggest the risk of this heading in more of a SEly direction as it comes across cambridgeshire

Must be the very early mild breakdown forecasted for particularly Cambridgeshire....at least you saw some snowflakes :)

its still intensifying and effecting a wider area from 12 oclock radar!

Now it's snowing again. Hopefully that was the brief warm front ahead of the real stuff
