ITN News just showed a forecasted snow depth map which showed 10cm widespread over central England and depths of 20 to 40cm south of Birmingham.

Here I am expecting somewhere between 20 - 40cm, but probably nearer 20cm.

Daniel Corbett on BBC weather earlier showed the heaviest snow to be south of Birmingham, both SE & SW

You are expecting 20-40cm in snow? :D:D:D

Good luck with that, you'll need it.

the problem for oxford could be them ending up to far west, as already highlighted its further east than first thought. 20-40cms may be more like 10-20 at best. i think further east may do better.

Just goes to show what a few miles can make....it can work for you, or against you....thats why, despite the models suggesting otherwise, I wouldn't quite yet write off the night for staffs/north of brum, stranger things have happened

i wouldnt write anything off for this evening, unpredictable seems to be the right word! once again, good luck to all

They are reading my posts! Thanks guys. I'm doing my bit to keep everyone up-to-date. :(

NMM still keen on this idea of a front coming down after the main band sinks southwards which could deposit an additional 1-2cm of snow across the county towards the late morning.

LOTS to keep an eye on but overall confidence is increasing on a fair bit of snow around the county over the next 24 hrs, particularly the further south and west you go.

All that coming up through London on the radar can't miss us. Can it ?

Having looked out of another window I think it may be more than just snizzle it is settling on the middle of the main road here so may be slightly better than half a centimeter

and the heavy snizzle is still falling... if it could just change to real flakes for half an hour it would look great out there

cheers

FC

I don't think this is snizzle...are you still in the City Centre or a suburb?

It's coming down now - my second present from Grimsby in 2 days! :(

Just under 9 hours of constant snow now (albeit a heavy spell and then snizzle), and it's built a depth of a third of a foot near me (4 inches/over 10cm)!

Although I've been about (on foot, no way of getting a car up my road) and the rest oh Halesowen appears to have had less, say about 2 inches. It just shows how localised things are.

If this continues, I'm hoping to get to the magical half foot! :(

Completely stopped now, I think that's my lot!

Hopefully the ECM will come true and I will have a shot at getting my first significant snowfall at the weekend.

Nothing falling here atm, think thats my lot for tonight, everything a bit to far south for me. Decent covering, nothing special. Good luck to those further south. :)

If that heavy band from the South moves much further North it is going to end up in Leicester .

Thats what i am looking at as well, hopefully as it moves north it does not get pulled to much to the west by the low.
