In 1987 Southend had over 2 feet in places! I loved that January as I was only 7 :D We're right on the coast.

And spookily that started on Thursday 10th January :):)

What is the date on Sunday :)  :)

Has it reached manston yet?

Yes, quite windy too now so blizzard like. :)

That band of snow to the east of thanet is heading for us suprisingly.

the bbc 9.30 forecast looked pretty good for the whole of the south east for the next 4 days, especiallly sunday, although im sure that will change by then. Got half an inch here, gutted, but hopefull yet.

Couple of thousand years overdue for the next ice age, could this be the beginning!

My recollection of 1987 is of having not much more than a dusting, albeit one that stayed around for some time, while some to the south and east of London were snowed in and couldn't get to work for ages!

I can't complain about this winter so far, especially today, but I hope things don't become EXACTLY like 1987

'Browse' (for pics) then 'Attach this file' — when it's done that you'll get a little icon of the photo above the Browse box. When you've attached your pictures, post (Add Reply).

And please please remember to re-size them to 'medium' before doing any of the above… otherwise they take an age to load and no one can look at them properly as they're too huge.

Norfolk is going to get nailed tomorrow with the W extent probably around Cambs.

This band then moves S but another band seems to also hit Norfolk/Wash again.

post-1766-12628142349052_thumb.png

Probably around 10cm for Norfolk. Probably 3-5cm elsewhere.

Lovely picture icon — but can't view it as it's huge (won't fit on the screen). Re-size down to medium then try again.

Depends if this band thats just touching thanet moves further west, seems to be tracking this way but I think we may only have the edge unfortunately.

and EA?

Even sooner for you, expect upgrades over next 24hrs. Re quote about Sun being too marginal...not a chance.

Thanks for the reply, was a lovely surprise this afternoon, we had had snizzle all day and thought we where going to miss it , got the kids home from school and an hour later went to put some rubbish out and it was a complete whiteout. At least I can get some sleep tonight rather than avidly reading all you experts posts :-)

Would be great if it happened hey

Just heading out to get some photos.

I did like wise lol! Soon as that snow was bucketing down, where's me coat and snow boots, and off out the door!. :D Walked around for a bit in the heavy snow. Didn't stay out long, got completely coated in snow which was big snowflakes blowing sideways, camera screen went fuzzy from getting wet (it's not meant to be waterproof but has survived other storms before), batteries ran out as well taking pictures and video. Bone chilling cold to my fingers despite the fleece gloves on, took coat off when got back in loads of snow fell on the floor!. :cold: About an inch of snow so far I reckon with some moderate light snow now.
