Ditto, covered everything in a matter on like two minutes, even the gritted main road. Eased off now, hopefully the first of many ay?

a quick 1cm here in 15 mins as we nailed the green pixel in the shower-

Many many down the pipe beginning to merge-

Heres the 2:10 image with GRAYS in essex as the postcode- as you can see many many showers developing in the esuary & the showers are getting into SE london & towards bromley / biggin hill-

Good morning all - what we have here is the makings of a so-called 'streamer event'. Could get very interesting over the next few hours. :good:

Great Steve......

Is this a streamer setting up?

As its quiet on the other thread I thought I would reply.

Looking at the Sat/Radar and my answer is if it does then its going to be weak. Check out the Sat pics and you will see the only notable convection is N of Norfolk and NE England. Clearly see this by the lumpy nature of the clouds whereas in the SE its flat.

getting closer now. these seem to be really pepping up now for se london

Ive looked at the shower thats coming towards me & traced it all the way back to as far as the radar scans & its a mix of light blues & a few deep blues-

That I imagine is a good 4 or 5 cms if it suddenly stopped- however we are now seeing very good convergence & subsequent shower development overland...

Getting very excited now- awaiting the 02:30 - 03:00 radar panel-

Temp has risen to a tropical -2.8c

remember folks--- this hasnt been mentioned--- snow flakes in -4c surface air up to -12 850 air & -5c dewpoints has the lightest mass your ever likely to see in the SE of england- especially when we are close to that warm estuary-

What does that mean???

rations of 1:15 instead of the usual 1:8 / 1:10=== means 1mm of rain = 1.5cm snow

anyone reckon london could see something out of all this...?

Well Im in NW London, about 6 miles west of Wembley and I had a snow shower about 15 minutes ago which suggests things could be pushing further inland.

I seem to be slightly too far north-west for this. Story of the past 2 days...

Not a scrap in SW London - but I am giving it 30 more minutes - is starting to look promising for at least a dusting before I finally go to sleep

Much better chance tommorow night for the westies

And then the dusting arrives :good:

yes - this is noticeable!

I read this on same theme today

the depth of snow is equal to N times the equivalent amount of liquid precipitation. How much is N? It depends on the temperature:

* -2 to +1 °C (28-34 °F): N=10

* -7 to -3 °C (20-27 °F): N=15

* -9 to -8 °C (15-19 °F): N=20

* -12 to -10 °C (10-14 °F): N=30

* -18 to -13 °C (0-9 °F): N=40

* -29 to -19 °C (-20...-1 °F): N=50

* -40 to -30 °C (-40...-21 °F): N=100

At least double rations for parts of Scotland then!

No snow here for a while despite active radar. Going to bed. Night!

Pretty much as good as it gets for me wind direction wise I think. Conditions are probably the best I've experienced so far for snowfall too, its off the really fluffy, dry variety and even though its light, it lays everywhere with relative ease :good:

Im in Ilford. It does seem to have started taking a slightly more westerly track. Could be on to something...

Rather poor new forecasts for today and overnight for Kent:

Wintry and sleet mentioned rather then snow :o

Friday night in Exeter - down the pub or sitting at a computer writing warnings for us over here in the SE??? hmmmm :good:

indeed ....

Wintry Showers..- Hum-- cant see much 'non' wintryness coming up the estuary overnight or in the morning....

Give that forecast a miss- await the NAE & the 00z GFS high res-

Clouds now building on the north side of the estuary...-

Steve
