Started raining steadily here in Hornchurch about ten minutes ago, getting a bit heavier now.

Small rain band about to cross London slowly from NE to SW and has started to turn to sleet on the radar with sleet showers behind it.

I see Steve M has already been on with the latest model update from this afternoon's 4pm runs - not good news after the next few days, and shows why the Met Office are talking in their latest update about milder weather possibly moving back in during the first full week of Feb.....

Will the ECM model later today show a different solution?

Tense, in't it!

The 12's are going to snach defeat from the jaws of victory tonight lol-

Still great 60 & 72 & 84 hour charts- however post that not great-

S

If it pans out that way then kudos to the Meto for calling it right I guess :(

We still have their further outlook though which promises a return to cold.

Well looks like a good frontal snow event on Saturday as the mild pushes across the country, will prob wash away the snow toward the end though. I also see right at the end of the run (yes FI) that high presssure builds again, aand i beleive that ties in with Chino's comments in the strat thread

So hopefully just a brief milder interlude before the cold rebuilds.

12z's have made me feel a little sick. There was always still a long way to go to get a proper easterly but we may well be looking down the barrel of one of the biggest downgrades in Netweather's history. Need to see a complete U-turn in the trend from the the ECM 12z and GFS 18z to save things in my opinion.

Considering how the winter's been so far, a few cold, dry days just wouldn't cut it for me.

Have a feeling the charts will turnaround again, and we'll be muttering 'AMAZING' EPIC!' once again very soon!

ECM tonight shows a few cold or v cold days with some snow risk and then the air seeps out of our cold high pressure and it sinks, allowing the Atlantic to stroll in with milder weather. Any Easterly looks slack then gone. After that, difficult to say but that is well beyond the reliable anyway.

Maybe tomorrow it will have changed again, but we do now have all the main models saying something that is broadly similar.

don't be put off by the earlier GFS runs, I'm fairly new to this, but can see it does tend to prog strong Atlantic systems only to remove them/shift them elsewhere (as seen earlier this winter and if I memory serves me right the last two winters).

If I was a betting person (and I am) I would say that someone somewhere in the SE will see some heavy snow this week.
