I thinks its safe to say that its game over if you are west of that line of showers currently on radar. If you are east of that line I would be quite excited now!

Can't see anything else developing behind it but would absolutely love to be proved wrong!

I was never east of that line to start with oh well there is always next time though. justy fyi I hope you are proved wrong as well.

Nothing here, all seems to be to the NW of me. Lots of decent convection that way too...guess I'm looking at the top of the cell towards Maidstone!

OK, I'm a rank amateur - what does that indicate?

Basically pink crosses indicate lightning discharges - they can overpower the other colours, which indicate rainfall intensity, if frequent enough though - a large pink splodge can appear!

Next time I post, I'll add a rainfall intensity scale.

Sorry, didn't make myself clear - I meant the cause of the storms forming an almost straight line. Wind convergence zone, trough forming?

Its a decaying cold front that moved in from the sw earlier today.

Check the convective thread for more info :)

Cheers - presumably it's sparked-off from the hot air over the SE?

I'm trying to keep the faith here - if that line of storms can fire up so quickly, here's hoping more do, covering a larger area of this region...

Plenty of time left yet for more cells to pep up (fingers crossed!)

Clouding over a touch here - N-W radar shows nearest cell just south of Saffron Walden, but maybe something later if the decaying front heads this way?

They seem to have stalled at the mo, no wonder they talked about flash flooding!

Looks like the storm is moving east towards the coast for sure, not sure if anything will build west of it

Just had what was possibly the heaviest rain I have ever seen, couple of roads were completely flooded, some flashes and some thunder smile.png.
